15 year old Dylan felt something jam into her rib. She flinched. She knew it was Jade. Jade had been 'Dylan's bully' for four years, and still showed no sign of getting off Dylan's back.

"Hey Dylan," Jade's voice had a baby-ish mocking tone to it, "You're shirt's dirty. Do your parents ever buy or wash clothes?" Jade and her friends laughed.

Dylan looked down at her shirt. There was a big black stain on it. She knew Jade had just put it there, but she wasn't going to make a big deal out of it.

"Oh. Yeah. My brother likes to use black sharpies. He drew on my shirt. And, in case you didn't already know, sharpies are permenant, so it won't come out. And to answer your question, yes, my parents do wash and buy clothes for me. My mom just took me shopping, and bought me eight bags worth of clothes." Dylan slammed her locker shut, causing Jade to shreik, and walked to her first period class.

She sat down in her normal seat. The first seat in the front row. That way, Jade couldn't do anything without being caught by Mrs. Parks.

"Okay, everyone settle down please. Common, now. We have a lot to talk about today, so lets get started." Mrs. Parks turned around and wrote something on the board.

While her back was turned, someone threw a small crumpled peice of paper to her. Dylan knew that it was from Jade, or one of her friends. She pushed at it with her pencile, and left it where it was.

"Okay. Everyone is to write a six page essay explaining how every single body system does what it does." She walked up to Dylan's desk, and spotted the peice of paper. She picked it up, "Notes, are not allowed to be passed during class. You know what happens." She slowly open the paper.

Dylan glanced over to Jade, who had a smile plastered on her face, but she could tell she was panicking.

"Dylan, what a dumb name. Are you sure you're not a boy? You smell like rotten fish, and you look like a-" Mrs. Parks lowered the note, "Jade, Lexie, Kate and Morgan, you all can see me for detention after school today." She looked at Dylan, and her eyes softened, "I'd like to talk to you after class Dylan. I'll write your next period teacher an excusing note." She turned and went back to explaining the bodies systems.

The bell rang, and Dylan sat still. She looked straight ahead with her hands folded in her lap.

Mrs. Parks sat down in the desk next to her, "Dylan, how long has this been happening?"

Dylan looked down, "This is the first thing I've heard from her." She swallowed back the tears that were begging to pour down her face, "I didn't even read it. I didn't want to get in trouble. I just left it there."

Mrs. Parks put her hand on Dylan's shoulder, "Okay. Well, you can go to your next class."

DYlan made it just as the second bell rang. She sat down and could feel Jade looking at her. Dylan turned and looked at her, ever so slightly shaking her head to indicate she hadn't spilled.

Jade gave her an evil smile and mouthed, 'good.' to her. Dylan turned and faced the front of the class, pretending to be absorbed in whatever the teacher was reading from the text book.

Dylan moved like a robot for the rest of the day. Her mind was in auto-pilot, taking her where she needed ot be when she needed to be there. She walked home completly in a daze, and did her homework.

"Dylan, dinner's ready. Mom wants you to set the table." Her older brother walked into her room, and stopped when he looked at her.

"Dylan, are you okay?" He studied her face. She just looked ahead.

"No." Dylan sounded like a robot too.

"What happened?" Her brother walked closer to her.

"Don't, Jonathan. Just leave me alone." Her eyes shifted to him. She could feel herself shaking.

"Dylan, what's wrong?" Her brothe wouldn't leave, he was persisant when it came to her.

"I said go away." Dylan couldn't hold back the tears that had been threatening to escape. They poured down her face, falling into her lap.

Jonathan came to her, and wrapped his arms around her, "Dylan, why won't you talk? I just want to help. Why won't you let me help?" His voice was a whisper.

Dylan couldn't talk. If she tried, she knew she would spill about Jade. And she couldn't do that. If she did, her life would just get worse. And so would Jonathan's.

Because Jade was his ex-girlfriend.
