I could feel his eyes on me, but I didn't once look down at him.
"Scarlett.." he calls softly.
I exhale, lowering my head toward the floor.
"I need space.." I say and quickly get up.
he turns his head and watches me scurry away while moving his hand slightly in disbelief.
I walk toward the door and leave.
when I step outside, I happen to gaze over.
and see Cypher.
he lifts his head slightly, in a secretive manner.
and puts one foot over a large wire, that ran across the ramp.
he stares at me.
I furrow my eyebrows lightly and stare back.
I gave him a cold glare.
"damn it, he's not going to leave me alone now." I think to myself.
I headed his way because it was the only way out of this level.
I kept my stare down, or in a direction that he wasn't in.
when I passed him, "the council wants to see you.." he blurts out and glances around deviously.
I turn around swiftly, "about what?" I ask.
"You'll see.." he replies and walks off.
I narrow my eyes.
well.
Whatever this was about, the council won't wait.
I had to go now.
our council is a group of elders, and they were hard to impress.
or lie to.
a few moments later>
I was approaching the council room, sort of nervously.
but once I opened the door, I had to let it go.
I know what my story is, and I'm going to stick to it.
My head was placed slightly down, as I peek around the room.
No one else was there other than the council members, and Lock.
"Come in Scarlett..." a long white-haired woman called.
I straightened myself and neutrally did as she asked.
"It has been reported that you are having some issues?" she says.
Looking down, "Bane and Lock must have informed them, to try and get me help." I thought to myself.
"Yes.." I raise my head.
"But they post no threat to anyone's safety.."
"They're more personal.." I reply.
"Bane, your partner says that you tend to roam the facility at night."
"He mentions that he has to go looking for you because you just up and disappear."
"He says it frightens him deeply because he loves you so much.."
"Did you know this?" She asks.
"Yes.."
"He's found me on many occasions.."
"we've been having issues between ourselves lately.."
"It's really nothing the council should be concerned about.."
"I've just been feeling like I need time alone.."
"he's so worried about me being with him all the time, that I can't get any space for myself," I explained.
"our problems will work out in time, I love Bane just as much as he does me."
"I'm truly alright.." I add.
Everything I said about the problem between Bane and me was true.
However, deeper inside me, I can't exactly say "nothing" about me will post a threat to Zion.
After all, I am half program, and I do work for the Agents.
Anything can happen if that side emerges without a warning.
she and the other members seem to buy what I said.
while Lock has been watching me the entire time.
The council talks amongst themselves.
"You are free to go.."
"But keep in mind, if you shall ever need anything or someone to speak to."
"There are people here who will listen.." the woman says.
I lightly nod a single time and turn around.
to my surprise, I see Bane sitting on one of the benches.
He must have snuck in.
I don't know how much he was here for, but I hope he feels satisfied.
maybe what I said will give him some peace of mind about everything between us.
and hopefully, stop our fights.
Making things better with him would be great.
But still, I have a secret to keep.
And another life to live.
oh yes, and a rat to squash.
Cypher.
I have to deal with him quickly.
