A splatter of blood hits my face from the bullet slicing through the demon's head. I release my grip on his hair as smoke starts to billow out from his face. His body convulses, sparks of electricity singeing his soul before dropping to the ground. Out of breath, I look left, down the barrel of the Colt in the hands of one Dean Winchester.

"You brought it with you?!" I ask in disbelief, scooting closer to Sam to inspect his beaten form.

Dean lowers the gun and rushes over. "Sam? Sam, come on," he grabs a fistful of Sam's jacket and drags him up onto his feet.

I follow suite, holding my side as I slowly get up off the ground. All three of us stare at the demon lying cold on the ground, but the heaviness doesn't lift off of our shoulders. Not only did Dean kill the demon but also the human it was possessing.

"Come on," Dean urges Sam forward, "Come on. We gotta get out of here."

Dean passes Sam off to me as he runs over to grab his father, slumped against the wall on the sidewalk. Sam's arm weighs down along my neck, but I manage to steady him while following Dean. Once we reach their father, Sam stumbles out of my grasp, sinking to the ground in a crouching stance. I quickly drop to his level, the pain in my side completely forgotten.

"Sam," I grab under his arms and lift him back up and onto my shoulders, "I got you. Come on."

Dean manages to get their father up and we do our best to get them to the car. We stumble our way down to the side of the road where a sleek Chevy Impala is parked. I go to compliment their ride, but then realize it's probably not the best time when I have a bloody and bruised Sam struggling to keep his balance on me. Dean unlocks the car and gets his dad into the passenger side.

"You good?" he looks over at me doing my best to get Sam in his seat.

"Yeah, I got it," I huff when his weight lifts off of me and close the door.

Dean gets into the driver side and I join Sam in the back with their bags. The car rumbles to life and screeches as Dean hastily pulls out onto the road. We drive for what seems to be a few hours, the sun behind us long gone. The tension in the air is thick. I can feel Sam occasionally glancing over at me, but I don't know whether or not to address him. He waits a few seconds and then turns towards the window, his hand resting beside him on the seat. Not wanting to direct attention towards myself, I inch my hand towards Sam's, my fingers delicately resting on top of his. His head immediately turns at the contact, tilted down at our hands. Wrapping my fingers around his palm, I give a comforting squeeze and look up at him. His face is hidden in the darkness, but the reflection of the moon outlines his hair and jaw.

"You okay?" I mouth, watching the specs of light highlight his eyes. He nods.

"You?" he mouths back at me. I shrug, a smirk playing on my face. He gives a small smile and squeezes my hand.
