He hit the ground hard. There was some type of monster on top of him "What the fuck?!" he yelled.
It appeared to have rotten flesh and blood all over itself. It was surprisingly strong, and had an awful smell to it. It appeared to be trying to bite America.
He fought to keep it off of him. It didn't want to stop coming at him for some reason. He tried to get up and run and slipped on the pool of blood that was on the ground and hit his head on the counter. Dazed, he backed up towards the glass door he had entered through. Amelia was standing there with a hammer in hand. "Here!" She exclaimed, handing it to America.
He took it and in one swift movement he knocked the monster on the ground. Getting his balance, he got on his knees and kept swinging it into its face until wouldn't move anymore. He sighed.
"Are you okay?" Amelia asked slowly.
"Um, yeah...I think so."
"Did you kill it?"
He paused, not sure how to answer. This is a kid I'm talking to...he thought. "I think...I think something else did." He looked down at what he had done. Great...that's two people I've killed...was that even a person? Looks like a zombie...he shivered at the thought.
Amelia stood there, confused, but she went with it.
"Where are your parents?" America asked.
"They're in Savannah. They left me here with my babysitter Sandra."
America glanced down at the monster/zombie thing. This must've been Sandra..., he thought, frowning.
"I really want them to come home soon. Do you think they will?"
He hesitated. Do I tell the truth?...She's just a kid but I don't think her parents made it... "How long have they been gone?"
"A week or so I think. Someone tried to get into the house while they were gone, and I haven't seen Sandra in a few days. I've been in my treehouse."
Holy shit...she's been on her own? "They might...but they may be stuck in Savannah right now. I don't really know what's going on. But I think it's a good idea if you stay with me. You shouldn't be alone."
"What if they come back and I'm not here?"
"They'll find us."
"Okay."
"Now the question is...should we leave now or at night?"
