Mackensie woke up with a start. Feelings of confusion and disarray took over as her eyes flew open and she stared up at her dark ceiling. She laid there for a moment, silent and still, as though trying to keep the attention away from herself despite being the only one in her own room. Her heart was racing.

These dreams are getting more vivid, she said to herself. Not exactly complaining since vivid dreams are nice to have...sometimes. Her mind started to recap her dreams as of then.

So...Frederick Pierce and that boy are brothers. She never got to see the mother in her dream, only hear her, but would it be safe to assume that the woman in the photograph was the mother of these two boys, right?

Mackensie stopped herself and sighed. "This is weird," she whispered under her breath as she closed her eyes again. Why do I keep dreaming about this...I'm even making up more people as I go. Maybe I can write a story out of this...

Suddenly the door slowly creaked open and Mackensie froze in place. She opened her eyes and saw the top of her door being opened into the room. Creeped out but not too freaked yet, she turned her head to be greeted by the even darker hallway that was beyond the door. Her already racing heart sped up.

It took her a few seconds to realise that it was just her cat coming into her room; she looked down at the floor and saw Feliks come striding in towards her bed. She felt relief.

"Oh, you..." she muttered and sat up in her bed, letting out a sigh while tugging at her shirt. It was a little hot in her room. Feliks went over to her window and jumped up to go and sit on the window sill. Mackensie finally made herself get up to go and close the door, she didn't like having it open at night since the dark hallway was eerie. That and after watching so many episodes of A Haunting, her mind couldn't help but wander onto darker, scarier things that could potentially be there.

As she threw her blankets off from herself she felt a little weight hit her leg and then the bed. She looked down and saw nothing, so she picked up her blanket and pushed it to the foot of her bed. There in the middle of her bed was the pocket watch.

I thought I put this on my nightstand... She said to herself, scrunching her eyebrows together in confusion. She tried to think back, she was so sure that she had placed it on her nightstand before she went to sleep.

Eh, oh well. She picked it up and put it back on the nightstand. She got off her bed to go and close the door, leaving just a small crack open for her cat in case he wanted to leave later. Mackensie went back to bed and crawled in, checking the time before closing her eyes.

3am. All right, I have about four hours left to sleep.
