The fighter, she looks like she's got this in the bag. That's the way her attitude is, anyway. She gets into her stance, and I get into mine.

"Clean fight, fair rules, ready when winner makes a move."

The girl-Kaede-I think, smirks, lunging at me. I dodge her punch, swinging a left hook to her jaw. She grunts, throwing another punch to me. I block it with my arm, kneeing her in the gut.

My form is too perfect, too republic soldier like. I purposely let a few of her punches get to me before I sloppily kick at her side, causing her to fall. She tries to stand, but I punch her in the face. She stands up, and I see something glint in the light. A knife.

I realize it a second too late. It's a hand blade. She slices me in the arm, not hitting anything vital, but drawing blood. Lots of blood.

Growing angry, I grab her arm, twisting it back, not stopping until I hear a crack, and her screams. I broke her arm in two places. She falls to the ground, the fight is over.

Everyone begins to demand for me to pick a new opponent, but I only fought to save the girl. I push through the crowd, running away before I can be stopped. The group surges after me, but I run, finding a ladder in an alley to climb.

I almost make it halfway up, when someone grabs my ankle, yanking me down, causing me to hit my chin on the concrete. I start getting dragged when a dirt bomb goes off, causing the person to release me in a coughing fit.

"This way!" A girl's voice yells.

I stand up, running in the direction of the voice. I turn a corner, nearly bumping into a familiar brown haired girl. She pushes me in the direction of a ladder, yelling at me to climb faster. When I get to the top, I see another girl staring at me in confusion.

The girl makes it up the ladder, out of breath and sweaty. She looks so familiar it bothers me. I've seen her before-with her long, dark hair, beautiful eyes with gold flecks, and tanned native skin. She was out of breath, heavy breaths leaving her lips.

"You're welcome for saving you, by the way. You cost me a lot of points," The girl says.

"Don't mind her, we just needed to save up for something, for a friend. I'm Tess," The younger girl said.

"Just tell him your whole life story, why don't you?" the girl threw her hands up dramatically.

Tess ignored the other girl. "What's your name?"

I shifted uncomfortably. I wasn't really supposed to let anyone know my name. It could ruin the whole mission. I was about to make something up, when the girl spoke up.

"Don't tell us, then. I won't be telling you mine, anyway, don't want to get caught by the street police-I've been caught stealing from them a lot, and they know who I am."

Tess pulled something out of her brown bag, handing a dark piece of fabric to her. She took it, when I noticed it was a beanie. She put her hair in a bun, tucking it into the hat on her head. She tied the laces on her shoes, before standing up and starting to walk away with a slight limp in her step. Tess followed her, and she turned around when she saw I wasn't following.

"Are you coming?"

I nodded, jogging to catch up with the two girls. That's when I remembered the necklace in my jacket pocket. I found it back in the alley by the hospital, a simple silver chain with two wedding rings on it. I hadn't told the commander of it, nor did I plan on it. It was definitely Night's, and if she took it, I might not find him.

"Hold it!" Tess hissed. I stopped instantly, seeing the girl swinging herself into an empty building. The broken glass was gone, when I noticed this used to be the main Lake hospital, but fundings were too low, so they shut it down.

"Dammit, we left some things back at the old place," The girl said, dumping everything out of her backpack.

"I'll go get them, the police don't know me," Tess announced, standing up.

"Be careful," the girl warned protectively.

"I'll be back before you know it." Tess grinned.

"If you aren't back by sundown, I'm coming to find you," The girl called, but Tess dismissed her with the wave of her hand.

The girl slid down the wall, looking at me with a slight head tilt. "Didn't you get stabbed in the Skiz fight?"

"Just a scratch." I shrugged dismissively.

"Let me see," She ordered, standing back up and striding towards me.

I twisted my arm so she could see, and she muttered to herself. "Too bad Tess just left, I've minimal knowledge on medicine, but Tess, natural genius. Must be from patchin' me up all the time."

I smiled lightly, looking at the girl's dark eyes. They were pretty. Really pretty. That's when I noticed the lighter part of her left eye, as if part of her cornea were scraped off. She made eye contact with me, and I looked away, my face slightly red. What was I thinking? I was on a mission, not in some high school forming crushes.

I heard a clicking in my ear, scaring me half to death. Panicking, I walked back sharply, bumping into a wall. "I have to..I have to uh, use the bathroom!"

I ran out the room, getting far enough away from the girl. "Hello?" I whispered into the earpiece.

"Daniel, its Metias. Any idea where Night is?"
