Winter POV:

Winter was lonely

Sure he got to have scavengers and help build Sanctuary, but he had no one, his friends from Jade Mountain rarely visited, he was kicked out of the Ice Kingdom and he wasn't really friends with any of the Talons of Peace members. And after losing Moon to Qibli his heart now had hole in it.

Moon. Winter still couldn't even think her name without getting a heartache. Her kind caring eyes, her heartbroken face after he left Possibility, the way she smiled at Qibli, all the memories of her made Winter want to drown at the bottom of a frozen lake.

Winter needed a break, he needed to be with someone who cared and loved him and fully understood him and all the depression he was going through. And Winter was not going back to Jade Mountain.

Winter scanned the icy landscape, going to the Ice Kingdom to see Hailstorm was his best option. Hailstorm was a good brother, and Winter loved him a lot, but Hailstorm wasn't always the best at sympathizing with your problems, unless you had turned into a clumsy SkyWing loyal to a psycho, face melted queen.

Still Hailstorm was Winter's best bet, if anyone understood Winter it was Hailstorm.

It was just past Twilight when Winter saw the lights of his cousin Snowfall's palace, dark green and blue streaked the lower part of the sky and the faint glimmer of moonlight bounced of the cold ocean waters. Winter's heart beat a little faster as the palace came closer. Memories of his childhood sprang up into his mind, rolling in the snow, hunting in the snowy landscape, diving into frozen waves, made Winter feel a little better.

As Winter landed on the soft snow, he could see dragons bustling around, fighting, studding, flying. The cool breeze hit him, and Winter closed his eyes for a moment, enjoying the coolness.

When he opened his eyes, he saw two guards staring at him. They had four circles on a chain on there necks and long narwhal spears.

"Hello," Winter said as calmly as he could. "I am looking for my brother Prince Hailstorm, do you know where I can find him?"

"Prince Winter" the guard on the left said coolly. "It is an honor to see you again, I believe Prince Hailstorm is in his chambers, Her Majesty moved him to Narwhals old chambers, I believe you can find him there"

Father. Thought Winter sadly, I'm sorry I couldn't save you, I tried  "Thank you" Winter said to the guard. She nodded and turned away from him.

Winter took a deep breath and calmly walked towards the palace. A few dragons turned to stare at him or give him respectful nodded but most just minded there own business. It felt good to Winter to not have to have all the lists memorized. He just gave everyone a respectful nod and sometimes a small bow.

As Winter entered the palace, it was breathtaking as ever. Winter went over to the tree of light to pick up a moonglobe

 Moon.

Moon and the others crowded his memory. Winters heart ached again.

No Winter, we can do this. Winter thought. Be strong, you still have them as friends. But whe are here to talk to Hailstorm. Moon can wait later.

Winter took a  long, deep breath and headed towards Hailstorm's room.

Lynx POV:

Lynx looked up at the shinning wall that held the rankings of all the IceWing dragonets. And at the very top, shone Lynx's name, it had been there ever since Snowfall had become queen.

But Lynx remembered the day before Snowfall was queen when Winter had moved up to first place. Winter, he closest friend since they where dragonets, Winter, her crush.

Lynx wasn't jealous when Winter moved up to first. The only time she was jealous that day was when Winter gave Snowfall a dazzling smile as he took her first place spot. Lynx knew he only did it to get on Snowfall's nerves, but Lynx couldn't help feeling the tiniest bit jealous that the handsome IceWing prince wasn't grinning directly at her.

But when he asked to train with her on the morning of the trail, Lynx felt a thrill of excitement of more time together next to the fear of his possible death.

Lynx had always suspected that he returned the same feeling for her, not as strong as hers was but it was at least something. But after he came back from the academy, the way he smiled at her was not quite the same and he never did the little flirts that he never noticed he did when he was around before. And Lynx knew it wasn't just him worrying about is upcoming trails. Someone else had won his heart.

That was probably the worst moment of her life, turning into the second worst when she found out later that day that Winter had died in the trail.

Lynx could also remember the day of the battle at Jade Mountain, when he showed up with his little band of misfits, she felt like her heart might explode. And when she had to fight one of the empowered NightWings he saved her, when he could have saved anyone.

But Lynx saw how he looked at the NightWing that had come with him, she won his heart, not Lynx.

Lynx sighed and looked away from the rankings, she was about to go inside the palace, until she saw a flash of pale blue and white scales. She only saw him for a second be she was certain, it was Winter.

What is he doing here? Lynx thought Should I go see him? No, I probably just came back to see Hailstorm, he probably doesn't even remember who I am.

Lynx sighed and slowly walked back towards the rankings as soft snow began to fall.

Winter POV:

Winter made his way through the halls until he found Hailstorm's room. Winter tapped on the door to let Hailstorm know he was there. Winter heard movement and the rustling of paper before he heard Hailstorm's voice call out, "Who is it?"

"Room service" Winter replied,

A moment later, Hailstorm poked his head from the other side of his room.

"Winter!" He cried out, grinning and running over. His scales where gleaming, blue eyes where shining, and the silver circle around his neck, flashed and he ran.

"You here!" Hailstorm said, halting before Winter.

"Hey Hailstorm" Winter said, not resisting to smile back at his brother. "I missed you and came to visit for a few days." Winter said, not fully telling the truth about coming to distract himself.

"Well," Hailstorm said slowly. "Listen, I have a mission tomorrow that will last all day, so i'm afraid we can't doing anything tomorrow i'm afraid, is that OK?"

"Yeah totally" Winter said, ignoring the lump in his throat.

"Cool," Hailstorm said, grinning, "have you checked in with the queen?"

"No"

"I can do that," Hailstorm said "You wait here, I'll be back in a minute"

"Sure'

Hailstorm grinned one more time before exiting the room and heading in the direction of the throne room.

A minute past, Winter looked out the window, it was lightly snowing, but IceWings where still wandering about, going on with there lives.

"Well," Winter said out loud. "What am I supposed to do tomorrow?" I don't know anyone that really wants to see me, and I don't want to be alone, but that is probably what I have to do." Winter sighed

Unless

Winter started at a familiar IceWing dragonet staring at the rankings with a blue freaked snout and kind blue eyes

Maybe someone else wants to see me, someone who is actually kind and caring

Lynx.
