A/N: I've been going through some older chapters and been editing them. Grammar fixes, adding and deleting parts and plenty of new detail will be coming your way for each chapter. I'm starting with this chapter because this is the one I'm the most unhappy with and will see the most changes out of any chapter.  This updated chapter will be coming out as the same time as the brand new chapter 7 which will have another authors note addressing my hiatus and the story going forward.  Thank you for reading and enjoy!

Lynx POV:

Lynx blinked at the IceWing Prince. What could he have to offer?  "Come down here" Winter said and him and Lynx flew down to the ground, and Lynx felt the soft snow crunch between her talons.  She nervously brushed her tail through the snow and clenched her talons. What did the prince want?

Winter landed in front of her with a hard thump.  His arctic blue eyes were full of sadness and exhaustion. His shoulders were slouching, tail flopped lazily. It was clear that is dragonet had been through an unbearable amount of stress and sadness. Lynx knew it was wrong, but she pitied the poor prince, who tried so hard in a family who thought he was worthless.

Winter looked at her for a long moment, as if he was studying her, before looking into Lynx's eyes and blurring out "can you help me?"

"Huh?" She blinked, she had been so distracted by her own thoughts, she hadn't been paying attention to what he had said.

Winter looked at her with an almost curious expression, before saying "can you help me?" With almost an amused tone. The first positive thing he had done all day.

Lynx blinked at him again. "With what?" She asked curiously. It was uncommon for IceWings to ever ask for help, especially royals like Winter. But then again, Winter wasn't like most IceWings.

"I need to leave soon" he said as he squinted at the sky for what seemed like eternity. I have to do some royal thing by hunting a polar bear, and giving it to the queen. He looked back at her, with the same dull expression. "Apparently if a royal has to leave for an extended period of time, they have to do it, for some unknown reason." Lynx thought for a moment. She had never heard of that, but then again, there we so many rules in the royal family, Lynx probably didn't know half of them.

"So anyway," Winter continued"  I was wondering if you would hunt with me? I mean, you don't have to, but I haven't hunted polar bears for a long time and I was never good at it in the first place. Did I tell you that time about the polar bears and the scavengers? Three moons that was embarrassing. But anyway I'd really appr-"

"Winter" Lynx said. "Of course I want to hunt with you"

"Really?"  His eyes lit up and gave her a hopeful expression.

Lynx smiled back. "Of course you dummy, where do you want to go?"

Winter POV:

As the two glittering IceWings began heading south, Winter looked over at Lynx. Her soft, gentle blue eyes, shinning scales, and her beautifully iconic blue swirls. She was undoubtedly attractive, and raided an aura that Winter had only felt with one other dragon. The soft gentleness, warm smiles and fierce defenses. She reminded him of Moon. But there was something she had that Moon lacked. When she looked at him, he knew she truly understood him.

But how could he love her? He was leaving for sanctuary soon and wouldn't be back for who knows how long. Possibly never. She was first in the dragonet circles and (almost) every IceWing would never ever abandon that to runaway with a prince in exile. Plus he didn't even know if she returned his feelings. She was probably in love with someone else or had an arranged marriage to some other first circle IceWing.

"Hey," Lynx said, cutting off Winter's train of thought. "I saw a polar bears down there. Do you want to catch it?" Winter squinted down where Lynx was looking and saw a large lone polar bear roaming the beach probably looking for food. Winter nodded at Lynx before soaring over.

Winter briefly circled the bear and then plunged down. The polar bear looked up but it was too late. Winter snatched it up and killed it with one tight squeeze.

"Nice!" Lynx said. She smiled at him and gave him a nod. "I always thought you were a great hunter."

Winter snorted "you and you alone" he said. Lynx laughed and smiled at him again "shall we go back to the palace?" She giggled out between her laughs. Winter smiled at her again. "Sure, lets go."

------

As the pair landed back in the palace with their prize, Winter felt another wave of sadness fall over him. Every time he came back he felt worse and worse. All he wanted to do was go home to sanctuary and leave this life behind for good.

After dropping off the polar bear which Queen Snowfall seemed moderately pleased with, Lynx and Winter flew north to check out a Iceberg Winter had never seen. The sun had just set and the cool breeze blew across the night sky as the last of the light faded away.

Suddenly, Lynx dove down and landed on the field. Winter followed, and as he landed the snow felt colder then ever before.

"Isn't it pretty?" Lynx chirped from beside him "I love to come here when I want to disconnect from the world" Winter looked at the glacier, which was beautiful but he couldn't help but think it wasn't as pretty as the dragon standing next to him.

Winter turned towards her and made the mistake of looking into her eyes.
