Chapter 4: Trial Two

The next day the trainees and Valkyrie left the forest and headed towards the location of the second trial. They passed many mountains and towns, seen many creatures, and rested many nights. Finally after about a week's worth of travel Hilda told everyone that they'd be resting near by a big city with a great castle in the middle of it.

Hilda: "Alright ladies listen up, this is where the real trial begins. The second trial isn't about passing the trial, but more so making it to the third trial alive."

The girls looked at each other confused and whispered among themselves.

Syta: "I wonder what she meant by making it there alive."

Illya: "You think they're going to just leave us to fend for ourselves?"

Syta: "No no, she very clearly emphasized how important all of us functioning as a unit was. That wasn't just directed at us trainees but the Valkyrie as well."

Anira: "You guys don't know where we're going do you?"

Illya: "No idea, I thought none of us did?"

Anira: "Well I do, I am a wise young elf after all ."

Anira held her head up high and with a cocky grin on her face.

Tac: "Yea sure, so are you going to tell us or keep gloating?"

Anira: "Gosh so rude and grumpy Tac. Anyways the third trial takes place Nevire at the spring of reincarnation."

Illya: "Okay, what does that mean."

Anira: "Nevire is a magical sacred mountain that you can only reach on foot. On top of that there's only one route you can take to Nevire and that's through Fyrs Valley, that's where the second trial will be held."

Tic: "What's Fyrs Valley?"

Anira: "Where the flaming hell hound is shackled to a great rock, the prison of Fenrir."

Toe: "Fe...Fenrir! Bu..but we'll be alright won't we he's shackled like you said."

Anira: "But he has his many children surrounding him."

Hilda clapped her hands creating a crackle that rung through the girls ears. If she wanted everyone's attention then she sure got it.

Hilda: "No time for talk, you all will stay here under the watch of one Valkyrie! While myself and the rest of the Valkyrie will head into town and gather supplies needed for the rest of our journey!"

Hilda and the Valkyrie spread their wings and flew into the town. The trainees were about to start setting up camp but they all realized that they didn't have the materials to start a camp anymore. Everyone began to gripe and complain until the girls became one big argument then everyone sat on the ground and wait for Hilda's return.

After some time had passed, sun down was upon the girls and just as they were about to pass out Hilda got back. Hilda and the rest of the Valkyrie each had a carriage behind them filled to the brim with food, water, camping supplies, and various weapons.

Hilda: "Listen up, five groups at a time will come forward and receive their rations, camping essentials, and also new weapons. We will give each group a short spear, a short sword paired with a buckler shield, and a short bow with a quiver of arrows. Figure out which of you is best fit to use each weapon, because you will be allowed one of each."

The groups marched to the front in waves of five grabbing their supplies from Hilda and thanking her afterwards. When it came to assigning weapons every group seemed to have a hard time, except for one.
