Clouded River

Preperations

As we got into the car, Clouds mom had just got the text from Summer and was so excited. I was sitting in the back seat and I heard Mrs. Pond say, "You asked her to the dance Cloud!" A pause. "What did she say?" A short pause. "Oh my gosh! I'm so happy for you Cloud!" She hugged Cloud in the front seat while we were still sitting in the empty parking lot. Cloud turned himself half around to look at me and smiled. He put his arm back to me and reached out his hand. I held his hand as his mom smiled at me through the rear view mirror. She looked super happy at my calm reaction to holding his hand or something. Maybe she just barely figured out he liked me? I dunno.

A few minutes later we made it to the mall. We hopped out and walked into the crowded mall. It wasn't surprising that there was this many people. It was Friday you know. I wonder why everyone just goes and packs the mall on Fridays. As we made it in I noticed some people from school that I didn't know that much. I waved as I walked with Mrs. Pond and Cloud to this one really big store. It was one of those stores that are at the end of the mall like Macy's and they were like 3 times bigger than the others. I think it was called Briars Or something. Well anyways when we did get inside it was packed too. "Alright so! Cloud, you go pick out something nice you like and come ask me if it's good, while I show Rivie the pretty dresses kay?" Mrs. Pond said smiling at us. "Sure mom. And one more thing, don't uh, pick something out that's really fancy and stuff. We don't need as much attention as we already do at school." Cloud walked away into where they had Clothes and outfits for guys.

I walked with Mrs. Pond over to the dress section and we began to look at the dresses. Some had tons of light colors, some had a bunch of lace, some short dresses some long, it felt like there was an infinite amount of dresses in that big store. A little while after I was looking at a few dresses and Cloud poked his head out from the rack. "Oh my gosh, you scared me Cloud!" I laughed and said fixing the dresses on the rack. "Hah, sorry, just wanted to have some fun. This place is big, but it sure is boring. I nodded in agreement and we walked over to another rack of dresses. While I poked at one of the long dresses, Cloud took liking to the ones up to your knees. I didn't mind any kind of dress, as long as it wasn't dress code. I never did get dress coded but I mean, still could happen. It happened to this girl at our middle school and she had to go home and get on another dress or something. "Hey mom, whaddya think about this one?" Cloud said pulling out this one dress, all black and too little brown ribbons going across the waist, with no shoulder but some cute sleeves. "Oh Cloud that ones nice," she looked over to me. "Well, what do you think of it Rivie?" I did admire it. It was a cute small dress. "I like it. What about you Cloud?" We both looked at Cloud and he nodded quickly.

"Well I think I found something I'd like to get." He said, walking over to the guys section and back with a cream colored tux with black lining and a little bow.
