Harry awoke to a start the next morning. Barely able to sleep, he couldn't wait to wake up. He reached to his bed side table and picked up his glasses. Once they were on, he turned to the direction of Ron, who was happily snoring. Harry stood up and opened up the curtains around Ron's bed. "Wake up, you big lump." He muttered. Ron barely even stirred. "Ron, there's a spider on--" before Harry could even finish his sentence, Ron was jumping out of bed, rapidly checking himself for spiders.

"That wasn't funny, Harry!" He hissed later, as they were heading towards the Great Hall. "It was just a joke to get you up." Harry laughed. Soon enough, they saw Hermione sitting at the Gryffindor table reading a book. They came and sat down in front of her. Hermione was helping herself to some toast, and soon Harry and Ron were too. "Enough reading, Hermione! That's all you ever do!" Ron moaned. She merely gave him a look of disgust, then set the book down.

"Reading's good for the mind, Ron." Hermione said. Soon, her and Ron were shooting back and forth. Harry just gazed at Hermione the whole time. Something was different about her, but he couldn't put his finger on it. They could've been fighting all day, but for some reason, Harry didn't care. Finally when the fight seemed finished, Hermione turned to Harry. "Don't you agree?" She said. Harry immediately was taken out of his trance, turning a little pink. "Huh? Oh, yeah..." He said, startled. "That settles it then, Ron." She said satisfactorily, then went back to her book.

"Why'd you have to agree with her? Or we're you even paying attention?" Ron growled, as he and Harry were walking to Hagrid's Cabin for Care of Magical Creatures. "I don't know. I wasn't even really paying attention." Harry replied. "You should just leave her with her book for once." Ron didn't like this reply. "Oh, and let her get stuck in it? Don't you want to see her face more often?" Harry, of course, knew the answer to this question. But he didn't reply.

The day seemed to go by fast. Harry, at least, had thought. To Ron, the day didn't seem like it had even ended. Potion homework filled both their minds though, and as they entered the common room, Hermione was just finishing up. "How are you already finished?" Ron blurted. Hermione merely gave him a sly smile, and said, "The library. You should try it some time." And walked to her dorm. At that moment, as Ron began to grow angry, Harry actually began to admire Hermione. And as he sat down to do his potions homework, Hermione clouded his mind. With a slight smile, he got to work.
