New Year's Eve 2011
Sierra sighed as she finished curling the final part of her hair. She was ready to go. Ready to go to another pointless New Years party. Sierra didn't understand why she wasn't more excited this year. Usually she didn't like New Years because it always seemed that she would never have anyone to kiss. She usually went alone to these party's and wasn't exactly the type of person to 'pick someone up' at a party, so would always end up leaving alone.
This year should be different. She was engaged to Tam. She finally had someone to kiss. Someone who she could call hers, not someone who should really be kissing someone else. He was hers too kiss.

"Are you ready to go?" She heard Tam calling from the hallway.
"Yes, just a second!" She called.
Sierra stood up and looked in the mirror. She smiled. This year was different. She had everything she wanted. She was successful. She had done so much this year. She had been in her first play on Broadway, she had met so many wonderful people and she had fulfilled her dreams and played Christine Daae in the 25th anniversary production of the Phantom Of the Opera. She had a wonderful fiancé. She was happy. Sierra grabbed her purse and ran to the hallway to meet Tam.
"Well don't you look gorgeous" Tam smiled.
Sierra laughed and kissed him on the cheek.
"Come on, lets go. We don't want to be late" she said grabbing his hand.

When they got to the party, it was not what Sierra expected. As soon as they walked in Tam seemed to see a million people he knew. Sierra had no idea who half these people were. Tam went off with some random group of guys, and left Sierra to her own devices.
She looked around the room, searching for a familiar face.
She began to panic when she couldn't see anyone, and that's when she saw him sitting at the bar alone.
"Ramin!" She called, smiling and waving at her friend.
Sierra pushed her way through a crowd of people until she found her way to Ramin.
He smiled as she sat down next to him.
"I didn't know you would be here!" Sierra said.
"Well I wasn't supposed to be. Mandy dragged me here."
Sierra laughed. "Tam convinced me to come with him tonight. I'd rather be at home watching a movie"
"While eating ice cream" Ramin added.
"With sprinkles" Sierra laughed.
"Look at us, always the anti social ones at the party." Ramin said smiling.
Ramin and Sierra talked at the bar for what seemed like hours.
"Oh my god!" Sierra cried, slightly drunk at this point.
"It's almost 2012!!! Do you know what that means Ramin!?" She screeched, putting her hands on Ramin's face, and pulling it close to hers.
"What does it mean, Sierra?"
"I'm almost 30" she whispered. "30! Three O! Ramin, I'm OLD!" She yelled , putting her head in her hands.
Okay, maybe she was more than slightly drunk.
"Sierra are you forgetting that I'm older than you?" Ramin laughed.
"But... you're you. And I'm me."
"What on earth does that mean?" Ramin said, seriously.
Sierra looked up and shook her head. Just then she realised that it was 15 seconds until midnight.
"Oh my gosh" Sierra said as she starred at the clock. She quickly stood up and started looking around. She felt like Cinderella. She had 15 seconds to find Tam. She had to find him. She needed to have someone to kiss. This year was supposed to be different.
"Sierra what's wrong?" Ramin said, panically. As he stood up, he saw the clock too and realise he had no idea where his wife was.
Sierra frantically looked around , but most of the party had moved into the main room. It would take her ages to find Tam.

To her surprise, someone grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close to him , and kissed her.

When she opened her eyes, she was half surprised by who she saw.
"I told you, every year. No matter what. As long as we're together."
Sierra rested her hair against Ramin's shoulder and sighed. This year was supposed to be different. But it wasn't. So why did she feel so good?
