There was no single person you hated more than Draco Malfoy. At any given moment, you could be found complaining about how much you disliked him. This lead to much teasing from your friends who were convinced you were only doing this because you liked him, but you always denied their claims.

"I'm not saying this because I like him-which I don't. I'm saying this because he's a prick," you say.

Hermione nods in agreement. "Lay off her, guys."

"I'm sure," Ron says, rolling his eyes.

You start turn and lean over his desk, ready to hit him, but Professor Snape walks in as soon as you turn around. "Miss (L/N), you best turn around now. I would hate to give you another detention," he warns, causing the class to chuckle and you to blush.

As class drones on, you manage to forget about the Slytherin boy. That is, until Professor Snape announces that he will be choosing partners for the next assignment. "Weasley and Granger, (L/N) and Malfoy, Potter and..."

You stop paying attention. There must have been a mistake. You knew Snape was heartless, but no one could be that heartless. You leave the room as soon as class ends, hoping that you will be able to do the project by yourself.

~~~
"I guarantee that they will be together by the end of this project," you overhear Ron say as you enter the dining hall.
You groan and hit him lightly. "Watch it, Weasley. I will not hesitate to use this assignment as an excuse to hurt you."
He just rolls his eyes and continues eating.
As dinner progresses, Draco comes over to the Gryffindor table, earning stares and gasps from students.
"We're meeting in the library tomorrow during lunch," he states before leaving the dining hall.
Ron opens his mouth, but you silence him. "Not one word, Weasley. Not one word."
~~~

You slowly make your way to the library. As soon as you see Draco, you set your books on the table. "Let's just get this over with. The assignment said that we could do anything we went over this year, so what do you want to do?"

"I don't care. We could do whatever. What do you know how to do?"

"Amortentia isn't too bad, and it's obvious neither of us are in any real danger of being in love," you suggest.

He rolls his eyes. "Of course you would."

"Do you have a better suggestion?"

"Whatever. It's fine. As long as you get everything."

You nod and leave, making a mental list of what you need to get. You figured that the amortentia will give you some extra points because no one will be willing to test the potion.

~~~
The next few weeks are spent in the first-floor girls lavatory making sure your potion is perfect. In that time, you have grown to like Draco. Weasley was still very wrong, but you have stopped hating the guy.
"Ready?" you ask, ready to pour the last drop in the potion.
"Just pour it."
You pour the last drop before you both take the potion and wait for the effect. Suddenly, the smell of rain and old books fill your senses, along with a new scent that you have been unable to forget since this project was assigned.
You look over at Draco, hoping that he smells something similar. He quickly caps the bottle and stands up. "Let's just write the report tomorrow."
He starts to leave the room, but you grab his arm. "What did you smell?"
"Nothing," he lies.
"Bullshit."
"What does it matter?"
"Just tell me!"
"You, okay! You. Everything about you. That damn coconut shampoo!" He exclaims. "Whatever. You hate me. I'll just write the report by myself."
You pull him closer to you and kiss him. "I swear your scent is going to be the death of me," you whisper.
~~~

You and Draco walk into the dining hall for supper, hands intertwined. He walks you to your table and kisses your cheek before going to sit with his housemates.

Harry turns to Ron and hands him a few coins.

"You bet on this?!"
