Jaebum knew exactly where Youngjae was leading him, with his fingers interlocked with the younger's. They followed that familiar path near the station, walking along past the homeless men and women hanging around in their little groups, and into the building with outdated interior design.
He didn't say anything, but tried to suppress the discomfort that came back after the brief encounter he had with the guys Youngjae brought him there to see. He felt Youngjae squeeze his hand tighter and smiled, a silent understanding between the two of them.
Once they reached the front door, Youngjae knocked and waited quietly. "Do you know they'll be here?" Jaebum asked, circling his thumb around on Youngjae's hand.
"Yeah," he answered. "Unless Yugyeom would have had to stay late at his job..."
"Oh? Where does he work?" Youngjae shrugged, admitting that he had no idea, while their quiet conversation was interrupted by Bambam's opening the door.
The foreign boy's eyes widened, a large smile appearing soon after. "Yugyeomie! It's Youngjae! Come in, come in." So, Youngjae walked inside, Jaebum following, and Yugyeom had a huge smile as well.
The youngest one put out his cigarette quickly before hugging Youngjae tightly, but Bambam pulled him away so he could have a turn, too. "Hey, Youngjae! And, uh... you," he chuckled nervously, looking at Jaebum. The both of them were hesitant around the one with black hair, but Jaebum tried to exaggerate being cute so they would feel less intimidated.
"Jaebum," he told him. "Sorry if I was too threatening when we met," he laughed.
"No, that's okay," Bambam explained. "You're obviously close with Youngjae..." Jaebum nodded and looked towards Youngjae, who cracked his knuckled before speaking again.
"I just wanted to see you two again," he said quietly. The two smiled at Youngjae's words, touched by the genuity in his eyes. "I never got to thank you for keeping me in one place, so... thank you."
"And I, uh..." Jaebum began. "I appreciate you guys, too. What are the odds, huh?" He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm really glad Youngjae ran into you two." He looked them both in the eyes, trying to tell them everything he said to Youngjae even without speaking.
"You're great, too!" Yugyeom replied. "Jaebum, you're a good person I think. If you guys need anything we're always here!"
"Hm.. Thank you," Youngjae said. "I actually have my own apartment now... If you guys ever want to stop by, let me know okay? Here's my number." He handed Yugyeom a slip of paper, and the Younger immediately put the number into his black flip phone.
"Let's definitely keep in touch!" Bambam suggested, swinging his arm around Youngjae. "You're family now, man! Jaebum, too!" Jaebum chuckled at Bambam's remark, feeling more like he fit in with them.
"Well, hey, we have some plans tonight but maybe we can hang out tomorrow or something?"
"Yeah, absolutely! Have fun, lovebirds~~~" Youngjae stuck out his tongue playfully at Bambam's teasing and took Jaebum's hand in his.
"Nice seeing you two again!" Jaebum yelled back as he walked out with Youngjae. While they walked down the hall, he asked quietly, "Plans?"
"Huh? Oh..." Youngjae pouted a little but continued. "I just wanted to spend some time with you at the new place.. Is that okay?" Jaebum gave the younger a fake glare, but it still worried him a little.
"You dork, of course that's okay," was Jaebum's reply, and he kissed Youngjae's blushing cheek.
So, together, hands tightly interlocked, they walked to the train station and ended up in the empty, echoey apartment that they would end up sharing in a matter of days. While they didn't have much there yet, they had a laptop and Youngjae's wifi hotspot to watch movies all night.
It was the early hours of the morning when Youngjae was half asleep in his underwear, innocently resting on Jaebum's chest. The older couldn't help but smile looking at him, realizing that his heart still did weird things in his presence. "I am so in love with you, Youngjae," he said nonchalantly. Youngjae smiled in his half-asleep state, barely noticing what his boyfriend was saying.
That is, until Jaebum placed his hand on Youngjae's side, grabbing his full attention. "You've really changed my life, Youngjae." They looked each other in the eyes, full focus on nothing but each other.
"I'm lucky," Youngjae said quietly, nearly falling asleep on the spot. Jaebum's touch exhausted him in the best possible way, and he couldn't help but kiss him despite how badly he wanted to just lie still in Jaebum's arms. In that moment, neither of them thought past being close and having each other right there.
The lights were off, and the night was simply their own.
