“Well good morning Ms. Mahone! We will have you all unhooked in about an hour and you will be free to go.” He said while still looking down at the clipboard in his hand. “Thank You!” I smiled watching him scurry out and Liam come in.

As soon as I saw his face my whole day got a lot brighter. “So I brought you a pair of clean clothes and your Nike’s.” Liam set a duffle bag, I’m guessing full of my clothes, on the end of the bed. “Why thank you!” I smiled giving him a kiss on the cheek.

After getting all unhooked I grabbed the duffle bag from the end of the bed and scurried into the bathroom to change. I looked at my appearance in the mirror and was horrified, is this really what I looked like?

Damn I look like death warmed over, and no exaggeration there. I mean my skin was still pale but the color was coming back and I had dark bags under my eyes and I had the worst case of acne on my forehead.

Putting all that aside I pulled the hospital gown off, the gunshot scar immediately getting my attention. How could I possibly go back to my normal life with this horrendous scar, I could never wear a bikini or a sports bra the same again. Who ever did this to me has taken my normal life away from me, I can never be the same Lena ever again. “You look beautiful! A scar can never change that!” Liam’s voice stated, I looked into the mirror and saw him leaning on the door frame.

I smiled at him and looked down at my scar in the mirror, my fingers tracing over it. “How can I ever be the same Lena now?” I hesitantly question him. “You will always be the Lena I fell in love with and asked to marry me! Nothing, let alone a scar, can change that!” He smiled coming up behind me and spinning me around his hands landing on my waist and mine around his neck.

“I love you for who you are, not what your body looks like! Even though that’s  a bonus!”  I smiled, the last part making me laugh. “There’s that smile I’ve been looking for!” His lips met with mine, fireworks going off just like our first kiss.

There was never a dull moment with Liam around, he always knew how to make me smiled and how to turn my crappy day upside down. He was my rock and I’m grateful to have him in my life.

I finished getting dressed, replacing the clean clothes with the dirty ones I came in. I had to get wheeled out, just for precautions. The duffle bag sat in my lap and Liam stood to my left as a nurse pushed the wheelchair. Once we passed the sliding doors, a group of people were standing outside. Some were friends and the others being paps trying to get the inside story, having dated Liam for 3 years, you learn what you should tell the paps and what you shouldn’t.

Liam helped me into the black SUV, climbing in after me with my duffle in his hands. I gave him a slight smile, as he closed the door and told the driver where to go. I laid my head on his shoulder, he laced our fingers and we sat like that until we arrived at our flat. Liam helped me out an escorted me through the sea of paps and fans. Once we got up the stairs I threw the bag on the couch and carefully sat on the couch, letting a sigh of relief escape my lips.
