Chapter Two

I awake early and eat breakfast, leaving about half of my meal for Fala.

"You won't survive long like that," a male voice says good-naturedly next to me.

I look up and a thin, lean boy stands there, blue eyes and dark hair. Two people stand with him, one a blond kid with blue eyes, and the other is Ackerman.

"I'll be fine," I reply quietly.

They all sit down and the boy introduces himself.

"I'm Eren Jaeger, this is Armin Arlert, and that's—"

"Mikasa Ackerman," I finish for him, "Nice to meet all of you," I say in a somewhat bored tone.

The boys grin and begin talking amongst themselves and eating. A couple of people across the aisle begin to talk with them. Two guys come over to stand next to the table and greet Jaeger. Then turn to me.

"I'm Reiner Braun and this is Bertolt Hoover, you're Iris Jacobs right?" The blond one asks.

I nod in reply.

"I heard you wanted to join the Scout Regiment, no offense but you must be out of your mind," Bertolt laughs jokingly.

"I am completely aware of my decision and am sticking to it, I didn't ask for yours or anyone else's opinion," I state coldly.

 Reiner coughs, to break the silence, "anyways, I didn't catch where your from yesterday," he says changing the subject.

"A farming area that was within Wall Maria, a couple of miles away from the Shiganshina District," I tell him, petting Fala's head and staring straight.

"So you were there during the Titan attack?" Bertolt asks with wide eyes, earning an elbow in the ribs form Reiner.

"Yes," I state then get up. 

"I'll see you guys at the test," I state icily and begin to head out. They say goodbye as well.

I bump into someone as I'm heading towards the door; a crowd of people are now beginning to build up as they start to exit and head for the testing area.

"Hey watch it!" A guy voice states slightly angered as he turns to me.

 I look up to him, my amber eyes flashing in annoyance.

 He's about to say something else, but he halts in his step as his eyes meet mine.

 "Sorry," I state in a tight voice.

 He blinks, and then blushes a little, "I-It's all right, um, I'm Jean Kirstein," he says holding a hand out.

"Iris Jacobs, and this is Fala," I reply shaking it.

He gives a confused look towards Fala, but then looks back to me, "Nice to meet you."

 I nod, and then begin to walk. "H-Hey! Um... uh, you have pretty eyes," he says, pink powdering his cheeks.

I look back at him in slight surprise, "Thanks," I say in a sort of blunt voice, and then continue walking.

Even if he did complement me, I don't much care for the kid, he seemed a bit stuck up and full of himself, and for now I want to focus on training.

We finally reach the testing grounds and I stand amongst the crowd waiting to begin.
