Shade academy is a school that looks highly on preferment in combat and for second and third years the big School tournament begins soon after the second term. I remember how the tournament was the first year when you are only a spectator, the fights looked brutal and was full of dirty play but i guess that is what you should expect in real life don't you think? If in combat with a grimm or a bandit you could not just expect to have a ''Nice'' fight, bandits just want stuff of value like money and jewels and a grimm is monsters who just brings calamity and death.
Lets fast forward one year when we as team CAMO joined in our first Shade tournament. I myself realized our first year how much i needed to chats up on in terms of combat so i could be in the same league as my team so i trained hard and did never say no to a work out. Cinder our captain had many eyes on her probably the whole time we were in our first year because of her tremendous powers and combat skills, she early started to fought against the upperclassmen for she had already beaten all in the first year with ease. She was amazing, she didn't have a big ego or anything not like you could see for she was always super serious with her training and she never underestimated a opponent nor did she smack talk.
Olivia our shield and sword actually did lose her cool ones when a opponent was trash talking her little brother, the outcome? That student is not longer as tough like before and we all in team CAMO was sleeping with one eye open that night out of the terror we saw that fight, like i have described Olivia before she is really a motherly soul, but if you cross her line you better run, get it? Rimes pretty good doesn't it?
When it comes to Musket he was surprisingly good in the theoretical lessons sure he was good with numbers but that is because he have worked with his father so his only concern throughout the first year was which girl to try to charm first.
Together team CAMO put a big target mark on our backs after the first tournament we participated in, we walked together in to the tournament wanting to show off what we had trained for and what we was capable of as a team and we walked out like winners. We celebrated for days and was more than stoked for the next year. And fast forwarding to the third year we was in total sync and was as close as a team can become. Many people was after our heads that year and we had some tuff fights but i knew that with this team and with Cinder as our leader we could not lose.
The winners of this year's tournament is CAMO! Was shouted out through the speakers and we had done it again. We had grown so much together as a team and individually. Ms. Mera our teacher commended us highly for our preferment especially me who where more or less in par with my team in terms of skill at this point.
We celebrated that evening long past midnight but when both Olivia and Musket had fall well asleep i recognized that Cinder was not really in a celebrated mood and was sitting down on the roof. A day in Vale is hot but a night in Vale is cold, the only positive thing is that is not that windy by night.
The moon was right above us and was shining strong so even in the middle of the night everything was lit up with light blue color. I sat down with Cinder and laid a blanket around her shoulders and wondered what was going on in that head of hers. I was told by her that it was nothing special but she knew i could see through her lie, i had been trained in swordsmanship by her for three years so she gave up and just told me what was going on.
She felt useless for the reasons that she felt she had not improved at all while Musket, Olivia and me had become stronger and stronger for each year. Cinder was that student that everyone knew was the best and for that no one was surprised when she got the best score on a test or how she gets out of every trap or bad situation, it was expected from her out of everyone in her eyes. She had come to this school for the same reasons as me, power.
Sure i want the power and strength to become an excellent hunter to help my dad to fight of that Salem person but still we had the same goal. I felt bad because i knew that i was the one who had relied the most from her and when i explained that and apologized she told me that it was not my fault but that it was only a thing in her head she just couldn't let go. I suggested that now she knows how to fight like a team and that she is amazing as our leader, it cheered her up a bit and after trying to convince her how much she had improved and how amazing she was to the point that i was on the brink of embarrassment. She laughed out loud and i was completely red but at least she seemed to be back to her old self.
Days passed but Cinder was still acting weird, she was more and more to herself and started to be aggressive to everyone even to us, her own team. I talked to Ms. Mera about it and she agreed that something was going on and that she had started consulting for Cinder thought it felt wrong not to be able to reach her myself its almost a week sense we talked on that roof and after that i thought that she would calm down.
In the morning of the day Cinder would wake up before anyone else and run of and would not come home until late at night and she when straight to bed, the only time you would see her was class and even so she would not go to practice anymore. Both Musket and Olivia was as worried as i was and soon we started to take turns trying to keep a eye on her which was not as easy as it sound. She started to lose color of her skin and was turning pale, she obviously didn't eat or sleep that much and according to Olivia she was found out sneaking on Cinder and fell in to a huge argument about how we should leave her alone.
Musket started slowly to lose his patience and was to frustrated with Cinder that he didn't care anymore and even the mother loving Olivia started to lose hope. The whole team was in a depression because of this and school soon started to be harder and harder every day.
We now have about two and a half week until graduation, days i tried to talk do Cinder was minimal talk and a lot of arguments but to the bright side she seemed to have started eating and sleeping thought she was still aggressive and all of this have been going on for months.
