She didn't know how long she sat there for, eyes welling up with tears that she refused to let fall and hands trembling from what she'd just heard. Adelaide had closed her eyes and opened them, only to force a smile on her face and act as if nothing had happened as Damian and Norward reentered the room, oblivious, and she wanted it to stay that way. Xerxes had joined them not a minute later, brows furrowed and eyes stressed yet he had managed to genuinely grin at the sight of her. And at that moment she didn't have the courage to confront him about her current revelation but her heart had somehow grown apart from the babe that lay inside her, doubt creeping into her brain.

Days had passed and Xerxes was starting to notice her sudden detachment. She'd tried to be subtle with what was bothering her but she should've learned by now that nothing came to pass the Beast King, especially when it involved his little love and their child, but she was going to prolong this for as long she could; at least until she can make a solid decision.

Adelaide sighed and tilted her head more to the side, giving Xerxes a better access to her neck. They were standing at the balcony that Damian and Norward occupied not so long ago, breaking their fast as the cold winter wind blew and took the morning for themselves, away from the ruckus that the kingdom seems to be in for the coming royal wedding.

"Do you feel unwell, my sweet?" He asked worriedly, caressing her swollen stomach and kissed his mark. Instead of increasing her already small appetite, she's been eating less and less as the days went on and he knew that it wasn't good for her and the growing babe. He's persuaded her countless of times for her to somehow eat, to nurture their precious baby and not let them both go so weak, but she'd plainly refuse and say that she nor the babe was feeling hungry.

She wasn't taking care of herself, that much was clear, and he couldn't help but blame himself for it.

Adelaide hummed in response and met his lips with a shy kiss. "I am fine, my king. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to worry you."
