September 14
Beth walked me to school again today. I'm thinking that maybe we could be friends. That would be exciting - she'd be my first friend! She seems to be in most of my classes so far. We haven't really done anything yet - I've only been in school for what, a week? - but I want to be with her when we have to do partner work.
There's also this cute guy in my English class. He's quiet, sure, but honestly, that's my type.

September 18
I asked if Beth wanted to be my friend today. She agreed! So now I have one confirmed friend. I thought it would be harder starting a new school, but I have a friend already. Maybe this won't be so bad. One thing that kind of bugs me about Beth, though, is the way she pronounces my name. She says 'Ah-lee-suh' instead of 'Ah-lee-shuh'. But it's okay.

September 20
Mr. Beaufort had a little announcement about me in English today. I'm not really sure what it was about - mostly because the cute guy (I learned that his name is Jay) spoke to me for the first time. That was obviously more important than whatever the teacher was saying, of course - I'm sure he was just talking about where I came from and stuff. Unfortunately, Jay mostly just talked to me about a word I've never heard of, so I just had to agree and nod along.

September 24
Sorry I couldn't write yesterday. I had a sleepover at Beth's. Already! Her house is really nice, though it is close to the highway so the car sounds are really loud. It almost sounds like the cars are going right over the house! We also had to walk there and back - something about her parents being too busy or something. I didn't see them all night. My parents seemed to be relieved when I got home - it was my first night at a friend's house, of course, but I thought they'd hold themselves together a little better. I comforted them and told them where I was, then they seemed to be alright.

October 1
I don't have any big news today. I just want to write a little about a couple things going on. Jay and I are getting even closer - we talk almost every day now in English. It does seem that he - and Beth, for that matter - never get called on in class. Why is that fair? Oh well.

October 3
It seems that another girl - Jen - is also trying to be my friend. She's not nearly as nice as Beth, but she's not bad. She's always talking about herself though. It's a little irritating.

October 9
Mom signed me up for counselling today, and I have no idea what it's about. There's nothing wrong with me, but I'll see tomorrow.

October 10
I went to the counsellor today. He said a lot of things about me that I didn't believe. It was so ridiculous that I'm not even going to repeat it. He told me to bring my diary next week though, so soon my writing's actually going to be read.
That's not very important though. I think Jay's going to ask me to the Halloween dance, and I'm going to scream yes at the top of my lungs. YES!!! I'm so excited. I even have my costume all planned out.
