7:30 a.m.

"Logan. Hey, Logan, it's time to get ready for your first day of middle school! Yay," said Qwerty. The dirty, rusty, and lazy robot sat on his owner's knees. Logan has been begging his dad for a new iBot 6 for a month! Every time, he gets the same response, "2,000 dollars for a robot, nice try buddy." If he is so rich then why can't he get me a robot.

"I'll be up in a minute, Qwerty. Just take the day off," shouted Logan, "now get off, your making my bed dirty." He was wrapped up in several blankets drooling on a pillow.

"If you say so," Qwerty jumped off the bed and his metal arm detached when he landed. He grabbed it, shoved it back into his body, and limped over to his charging station.

After about ten minutes of drooling and snoring, Logan was woken up by the sound of Qwerty being chased by the cat, Ms. Butterfingers. Oh no! He had fifteen minutes until school started. Logan jumped out of bed and got his clothes on quickly. He couldn't stand listening to his annoying robot so he grabbed Qwerty by the arm and set him on top of a bookshelf that the cat couldn't reach.

"Go away, you ugly cat," Qwerty threw an old action figure at the cat to scare him away, but it didn't work.

Logan used the elevator to get to level 1 of his house. He told the kitchen robot, Sally, to make him a bagel immediately. When he was done auto-lacing his shoes and pulling on his hoodie, his breakfast was on the table. Grabbing his bagel, he sprinted to the door. Logan got his hoverboard out of the garage, ran to the road, and hopped on. He was going as fast as he could, zapping down the road at about fifty miles per hour.

When Logan was about halfway to school, his hoverboard started to shake a little. It slowed down a little and then just collapsed, letting a small cloud of smoke out of the back. It also caused him to fall and drop his bagel. Logan stood up and remembered that his dad added a skateboard mode so that whenever the hoverboard broke or ran out of battery he could just ride the old fashioned way. His dad owned one of the best hoverboard companies in the world. He pressed a button on the bottom of his hoverboard and two sets of wheels folded out. Logan started riding his "skateboard" down the road. According to his smartwatch, he had less than five minutes. Every person that passed him looked at him like he was a weirdo. Logan wasn't used to a skateboard, he usually didn't need to use any strength. He was out of breath. Logan received a video call from Qwerty, on his watch.

"What do you want?" Logan spoke into the watch, as he turned his hoverboard onto the road that the school was on.

"Ms. Butterfingers is on the bed. I think she wants to eat me," cried Qwerty, still on the bookshelf.

"I don't care about you or your problems right now, Qwerty," shouted Logan angrily. "I'm about to be late for school." He hung up on Qwerty and kept on riding to school.

When Logan got to school he put his hoverboard in his locker. According to his watch, he had less than a minute until first period. Logan sprinted to class and saw some robots in the hall. Most of them were in bad condition from the recent years. When he was about yard away from the door, the bell rang and the door slammed right in his face.

One of the robots came over to him and said, "Logan Barber, you are tardy for your English Language Arts class."

"Come on, it's my first day. Please give me another chance," Logan said, catching his breath.

"Playing 'Another Chance' by Justin Timberocean."

"I'm not talking about." Logan was interrupted by the music playing now. "Okay, whatever. I'm tardy." Logan walked into class and sat down next to his friend, Adam. He was sweating and out of breath.

Mrs. Sullivan, their new teacher stood at the front of the room. "Hello, students, my name is Mrs. Sullivan, and I'll be your sixth grade E.L.A. teacher this year. Any questions before we get started on our classroom rules?"

"How was your summer vacation?" Logan whispered to his friend Adam who he had sat down next to.

"It was great. We went to Florida. What did you do?"

"I went to New York."

"Er, boys. I'm up here," said Mrs. Sullivan.

"Sorry," said Logan. He looked at Adam with a grin and thought, This is gonna be a great school year.
