Chapter 12: Dance, Water, Dance.

Jai's POV:

"It's easy, you just get right into it!" Demyx exclaimed, slinging an arm around my shoulders. I sighed, pushing him off me as my features contorted into a grumpy grimace. "Woah... well, if that's your game face... you really remind me of Larxene."

I stared at Demyx in disbelief and horror, cupping my cheeks in obvious dismay. "I'm never gonna be good at this, Demmy!"

He clapped my back with an enthusiastic grin adorning his lips. "You'll get it, bestie! It's really tough, I know, but you gotta think of it like a stage." Demyx raised his hand in the air dramatically, angling the both of us so that we were gazing into the pale sky. "If you can dream it, you can do it."

"Oh God," I sighed, literally facepalming. "Demyx, can we just accept that I don't have a catch phrase when I fight? Or maybe I can just make it up on the spot..."

The flaxen-haired boy shook his head vigorously, wagging his finger in front of my face. "That won't do! I'm telling you, it's not as interesting if there isn't something specific enemies can remember you by. Watch and learn."

Honestly, I wasn't expecting to hear that from Demyx in my lifetime. The dork was just full of surprises. Demyx spun his aqua sitar dramatically, holding it at his side and pushing his palm into the air.

"Dance, water, dance!" he cried as multiple figures made of water appeared, literally dancing around.

"Wow, Demyx!" I exclaimed, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "If that doesn't make enemies drop dead, I don't know what will."

"I know! Thanks J--"

"Can you just remind me why we need to say something enemies will remember if we're going to kill them anyway? I mean, logic, please?" I sighed exasperatedly. I smoothed down the creases of my new, midnight cloak, leaning against my keyblade out of boredom.

"Well, I, uh, it's important because we're important and what we say is important and it's all just really impor--"

"Please stop speaking," a weary voice interjected, almost as exasperated as I was. My gaze snapped up to meet the mesmerising emerald eyes belonging to only one person I knew.

"Axel!" I cried in shock. "You're okay!"

He chuckled, his lips tugging upwards into that cheeky smirk that only he could pull off. "Miss me?"

I returned a wide grin, lost in my thoughts. I was beyond happy that he was okay. After what had happened, and the fact that I'd been put back in my cell, I hadn't known what to expect.

"Earth to Jai?" Demyx's voice interrupted my thoughts, as he waved a hand in front of my face. I slapped it away irritably, fixing him with a menacing glare. He backed away, his hands held up in innocence.

"You're scary when you're mad," Axel remarked, throwing me an obvious wink. I walked over to him, my eyes filled with concern. He looked a little unsure of what I was doing as he glanced around awkwardly. I reached for his face slowly, and just as my fingers made contact with his smooth cheek, he retracted quickly. It was as if the spark of my skin on his caused him physical pain.

"Hang on, I think your eye is spasming..."

"Ha ha, very funny," he drawled cynically, giving me a playful shove. As he stubbornly crossed his arms and pouted like a tenacious child, I couldn't help but giggle like a little girl. Axel brought out my childish side, and I was still deciding whether that was a good thing or not.
