Chapter Thirteen (Raven's POV)
I laid in bed next to Aidan that night, my arm resting over his naked side.
He'd gone to bed without clothes on, the blankets pulled high over us as the rain outside pelted our window pane once again. My hand rested against Aidan's stomach, my breath held. I don't know why I was so nervous.
Maybe it was a flaw.
Maybe it wasn't Aidan.
Maybe it wasn't true.
I kept trying to tell myself these things to make myself feel better, but nothing worked because in the end, I had done the unthinkable and had sex with Aidan. I wanted to tell someone, ask for help, but if I told my parents, they would explode on me. Having done such a thing at a critical time like this was just flat out dangerous. As for Rylan, he was sure to open his big mouth and Cal would also freak out, probably blabbing to our parents.
I needed help and the one person I could think of I hadn't seen since I was a pup.
I didn't sleep the entire night as I tried to practice the conversation in my head, at the same time, trying to convince myself that none of that had really happened and there was no danger in having sex with Aidan of all people, but it did nothing to ease my worry and panic.
I had fallen asleep just before dawn and woke up an hour later to Aidan writhing under my arm. I peeked my eyes open tiredly, watching Aidan groan.
"What's wrong?" I asked immediately, sitting up. Aidan shook his head, sliding into a sitting position, gripping the sides of his head.
"My head hurts..." He mumbled.
"What happened?" I asked. Aidan gave me a confused scowl, holding the side of his head now.
"Nightmare... But... This time, I can't remember what it was about. Something stupid, that I know. Then again, they're all stupid." He muttered, then pressed the heels of his palms against his eyes before dropping his hands to the bed. I waited to see if anything else would happen, but he merely slid out of bed, stark naked and went to the bathroom.
I waited still, but all I heard was the shower running.
For some reason, I felt relieved. I thought I would hear Aidan moaning in agony or something, but he seemed fine. I took a deep breath and got out of bed. Despite Aidan acting perfectly fine, I wasn't about to let the chance pass me by to ask for help.
If not now, it would be for later.
Besides, it was good to have family in town.
I dressed in jeans and a t-shirt before heading downstairs, snatching the phone off the hook and making sure no one was around to hear my conversation. I scanned the list of emergency numbers and everyone's cell numbers before my finger rested over the appropriate name.
I hesitated. Maybe I shouldn't do this. He was probably busy. They probably all were and it was really short notice. Something could happen to Aidan any time now... But it was better than running around like a chicken with its head cut off.
I dialed the number and listened to it ring as I double-checked to make sure no one was listening.
"You have nerve calling me after hanging up on me last time, you cockface." Was the greeting I got. I raised an eyebrow at the tired, droll tone of voice before clearing my throat.
"Uhm... Kyler?" I asked. There was a pause.
"Well, shit. Who's this?" He asked, sounding confused. I heard yipping in the background and something hiss, like steak on the grille and my stomach snarled at me for focusing on that rather than the task at hand. I took a deep breath.
