Everyone around me moved at turtle speed as I stared at Katie Loyd down the hall. In her hands was an envelope. I began to slowly walk over as she opened the envelope. She pulled out a piece of note book paper, just like the other two notes. She read it and huffed as she crumbled it up and threw it on the ground. She closed her locker and dropped the envelope as she walked away. I quickly grabbed the balled up piece of paper and began to open it up. There on the paper were the exact same words that were on the notes Taren and Michele received as well.
I quickly dashed down the hallway and grabbed Katie's arm, jerking her into the closest girls bathroom. "Hey, what's the deal!?!" She yelled.
I looked around to make sure there was no one in the bathroom and I locked the door. I looked at Katie, frantic. "That note you just crumpled up. Where did it come from?"
"Woah, stalker much?"
"Katie, just answer the question."
"Gosh, I don't know. I just found it."
"When was the last time you checked your locker?"
"What is wrong with you? You're being weird."
I stomped my foot in anger. "Katie just answer the question! I need to know."
"Why does it matter? It's just a prank note."
"Katie, I don't think it is."
She laughed. "What do you mean?"
"This note, Taren and Michele both received one before... Well you know."
Her eyes went wide. "Look, Sara you're starting to freak me out. I think you need to see the guidance counselor because you're sounding like a lunatic."
"Katie, I'm being serious, please listen."
She pushed past me and unlocked the door. "Sara, you need some serious help." She said before she walked out.
She was next... But how do I help save her if she won't listen to me? Maybe I should follow her. Maybe then I can get some answers to this whole thing.
I rushed out of the bathroom and searched for her. She had just disappeared into the locker room for gym, probably changing for softball practice. I walked out the back doors of school and stared at the softball field. It was right beside the soccer field. Maybe I should go check out the woods really quick just to see if I can see anything or anyone.
I rand down the hill toward the edge of the woods. I took a deep breath and walked through them. I walked around the vicinity where the softball field was but all there was was just trees and dead, dying leaves. I didn't see anyone, nor did I hear anything other than the occasional squirrel. When I was satisfied no one was in the woods I began to walk back towards the softball field. The girls had already begun to practice. I sat on the bleachers, watching.
"Darien, what the heck was that?" Katie yelled in fury after Darien missed a ground ball. "You better not miss that tonight at the game or otherwise you'll be benched."
Darien was the principles daughter. She wasn't the most liked girl in school. The only one who had anything to do with her was Mia, and that was mostly because of who her dad was. She played a couple of sports, but softball was one of her best sports. Softball was Katie's best sport. She was the captain, which gave her the authority to yell at Darien like that even though Darien was the co captain.
After an hour and a half, and a lot of yelling at mistakes they finally ended practice. Katie walked up to me and rolled her eyes. "Sara, are you stalking me now because I do not appreciate it."
