When you left my life,
I made the decision to try to forget you
&
at the same time hold our memories close to myself .
Little did I know you left the door of our house that we've built
opened when you were leaving,
as the sadness & pain came through as unwanted guests,
they robbed every ounce of strength
I had
in order to continue
living .
Days passed & the sleepless nights became
my daily battles,
my feelings & thoughts became monsters
that I had to learn how to tame
every single night .
Just like a caged bird that's in an unlocked cage,
it chooses to just stay & linger
despite being able to set itself free.
Maybe,
this is what it's like
to love someone
you'll never be with
ever,
or
once more .
