I was running past the tall pine trees almost tripping over every speck on the soft leaf covered ground. I was determined to get it this time.

It was surprisingly quiet, despite the noise of my heavy breathing and the crunch of the dried leafs and the cracks of my feet stepping on small lems that have fallen off the surrounding trees. The unknown person was running as if it were a young child, very fast too fast for a thirty somethin year old man like me to catch up with.

I was running out of breath had to stop. I was standing there breathing like there was no oxygen in the only space where trees and bushes weren't pressed up against my chest. I took a step further into the space and looked in the direction that the mysterious creature went, it was out of my sight as if right now.

I decided to go back home after the being's footsteps disolved out of my hearing. While I was walking I thought about the day that I saw it the creature, I knew once I caught a glimpse of it that it had been staring at me before I even got a glance of what it was, it had been staring at me longer and harder. I felt like it was mocking me. None in the world could stare at me like that soul did at that moment.

I avoided the stares coming from the faces of my neighbors as I was walking from my poorly cut yard to  the front door of my house. When I got inside, to get my extemely tired mind and body at rest after what happened, I sat down in my recliner and turned on the small television by the fire place in my den. The news about the missing girl Lily Tae was on again and they had more news about this tragic mystery, I almost forgot entirely about it though. This was a huge news story for a small town in the middle of Mississppi. The last missing person was a seventeen year old boy who ranout b/c he didn't want to listen to his mother and follow the rules in the household on second street.

They still haven't found her, her mother was still crying. A tear ran down her cheek while they were talking about the missing child. I felt pain in my chest for the mother of that young child that must have gone miles away from our town by now. I never have had a child of my own, but I would know how it felt.

When I lost my mother, I didn't know what to do, after the accident I guess I shut myself away from the rest of the world. But for some unknown reason that has been hiding in the back of my head since the moment, the second right out of that resturant I didn't want to go catch up with the world again.

I wanted the world to catch up with me...
