do you remember that night that we had nothing to do and nowhere to go?
there were a lot of those, but this one was special
the unforgettable sort of special
anyways, we were driving around looking for something — anything that would spark our interest
we came across this little run-down drive-in movie theatre and decided to take a closer look
if it hadn't been outdoors i swear there would of been a layer of dust on everything within the vicinity
they were playing some old movie neither of us had heard of, but the tickets were cheap and we were bored so we stopped by the snack stand before pulling into a spot real close to the screen
i still can't seem to recall the name of that movie, but i've been searching for it — madly
desperate to find one more thing that would remind me of you
one more thing that we shared
one more thing in this world that was pure and untouched before someone else was able to get their grubby little hands on it
anyways, that stupid ol' drive-in actually became the scenery for one of the best nights of my life
i've been searching for it too
but when you left, it's like everything seemed to go with you
just carried along with the wind, disappearing as suddenly as it had happened upon me
i can recall every detail about that evening as if it had happened just last night
my cold hands
your warm hands covering them
your smile that sort of glowed in the dark
your gaze when you didn't think i was looking
i was always looking
but most of all, that sweet sweet ebullience that was almost as sugary as the caramel corn we got from the snack stand
that energetic spirit that always accompanied a new adventure
we had so many adventures
everything was adventure when i was with you
and everything seemed more magical when i was with you
and now you're gone
as much a memory as that stupid ol' drive-in
gone as if you had never intended to stay
unforgettable
