Chapter One: QUESTIONS OF FAITH

"The man that believes will obey; failure to obey is convincing proof that there is no true faith present. To attempt the impossible God must give faith or there will be none, and He gives faith to the obedient heart only." ----- A. W. Tozer

If someone does not want to accept God, then no amount of evidence will convince that person to believe. With enough speculation and assumption, one can believe, or disbelieve, anything, but, if you genuinely want to know, then God will show you the truth. Do you want to know the truth? Are you willing to accept God and His will if your search concludes He is real?

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13)

Before we get to the Biblical prophecies, I think it's important to look at some age-old questions about God and life - questions that everyone ponders at one time or another. The answers can be elusive, and very difficult to reconcile with our human worldview.

I don't pretend to have all the definitive answers to these questions – no one can. And I don't think we are supposed to have all of the answers, because God's plan is for us to accept Him on faith. If we had all the answers there would be no need for faith.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8).

Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our

Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1).

Some people use and manipulate the answers they find, or cannot find, as an excuse to justify their non-belief. Those who truly believe, through faith, will accept the things that are difficult to grasp. They will trust that God has a higher purpose in all things.

DOES GOD REALLY EXIST?

It's amazing that so much attention is placed on this question. Even though most polls reveal that more than 80% of people admit to believing in God, or some higher power, the burden is still placed on proving His existence. I will answer the question with another one: can you prove that God does not exist? While there is plenty of evidence for the existence of God it cannot be absolutely proved or disproved – He must be accepted on faith.

But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)

Indisputable evidence of the existence of God is all around us. It exists in nature, in the order and design of the universe, and in the complexity of life. It stares the skeptic in the face every time he looks in the mirror, or goes outside and sees the beauty of the heavens.

Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse. (Romans 1:19-20).

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork. (Psalms 19:1).

HOW DO WE KNOW GOD CREATED THE UNIVERSE?

There are only four possible options for the existence of the universe, and life within it:

1) - The universe is eternal – There is not one thing in the universe that man has found to be permanent – everything is temporary. Even the sun is burning out and will exhaust itself at some point. Since nothing is permanent, the universe must have had a beginning, and if it had a beginning, then it must have an end.
