Chapter 1
Friday.
4th Jan 2014.
“I don’t mind spending every day.

“She Will Be Loved” by Maroon 5 played on the Radio. I was on my way to Bradford from Manchester. Whoops! Sorry I forgot to introduce myself. I am in all my glory Eliza Roselyn Sheffield. I’m 18 and studying Arts in Manchester University. And I’m on my way home to Bradford for the weekend for my brother Adam Joseph Sheffield’s wedding. Adam is 23 and working as an architect in Bradford. And as cliché as it sounds, he is getting married to the rich blonde Arianna Ford ,his high-school sweetheart. But unlike the typical blond snobbish bimbos, Arianna is actually really sweet. So I do give credit to my dear brother for choosing well.
“I know it’s been a long night but now I’m here it’s alright,
I don’t mind walking in your shoes,
We’ll take each step together till you come back to centre,
You know that I know the real you.”
UnionJ’s “Carry You” blasts out of my smart-phone. I check the time and see its half past ten at night. The song keeps blaring out of my phone and my mum’s picture which I had clicked when she was baking cake for my last birthday keeps flashing. She’s smiling wide, wearing dark blue baking gloves and her dark brown hair are in a bun with few loose strands falling around her face. That is the only attribute I got from my mum, her hair. I too have medium length dark brown straight hair. But my green eyes, pale skin and pretty good height 5 feet 7 inches to be exact, I got from my dad.
I slide the “Answer” sign and put it on speaker. I place the phone on its holder in front.
“Ellie!! Darling where are you?” comes my mum’s gentle voice.
“Hello mum, I’m almost here. Another 30 minutes I suppose.”
“Ok sweetie by the way did you have anything to eat? It’s quite late? I’ve made your favourite baked chicken and chips and it’s waiting for you or you can have it later.”
Oh my mother! She always makes sure that her beloved children don’t starve to death.
“Sure and yes mum don’t worry I’ve had a sandwich on the way.”
“Oh...ok . Drive safely. We all are waiting for you”
“Bye mum”
“Bye love”
