Chapter 4

The Boy With Emerald Eyes

>LOUIS' POV<

"It's alright Zayn," I said to my best friend. I had just been struck in the face by the new boy, who I secretly was crushing on. I didn't mind though, not like I normally did. I just couldn't seem to get mad at this lad. Oh, gross. I sound like a teenage girl. Realizing that Zayn was giving me a funny look, I quickly followed it up with, "He's obviously very clumsy."

This seemed to satisfy Zayn, because he said, "Whatever, man. Let's get out of here." I grabbed my textbook and walked out of the classroom behind him.

I sat down at my usual table, next to Niall and accross from Zayn. We were just shooting shit and talking about nothing of importance, when I saw a flicker of mischief in Zayn's eyes. He smirks and looks at me, my cue to lean over to hear what he has to say.

I lean forwards slightly and turn my head. He leans forward as well and mumbles, "That bloke that hit you in the face is staring at you." I felt my body tense up, and I snapped my head around to where Zayn was looking just moments before.

Instantly, I made eye contact with the boy with emerald eyes. A mixture of realization and horror flashed accross his face before he quickly looked down. I turn back around to Zayn, but he's just smiling down at his tray, trying not to laugh. I turned to Niall, who was too busy eating and texting to pay any attention.

"I'll be right back," I said, scooting my chair out. I left my food on the table and started towards the boy. He seemed really shy, and I wanted to get to know him. Most people think I'm some hard ass, which I am most of the time, but if you're my friend, I'm nice.

Mostly.

As I approached his table, he shot up, startling me and causing me to freeze. He swiftly walked to opposite direction and threw his trash away and walked out of the cafeteria doors, leaving me standing alone in the middle of the loud room.

I sighed, and spun on my heel, only to come face to face with Perrie Edwards, the head cheerleader on the squad.

"Hey!" She squeeled, and hugged me tightly. I stiffened in her arms, and she said, "Aren't you going to hug me back?"

"No," I stated bluntly. She pulled back and forced a laugh.

"Oh, Lou. You're so funny!"

My jaw clenched, and my fists balled up. "Don't call me that, and get out of my face."

Perrie pouted, but I pushed past her and headed back towards my table.

>HARRY'S POV<

I walked out of the double doors and out into the sunlight. Shielding my eyes, I looked around for my sister's car. Finally spotting it, I walked over to where she was throwing her bag in the back seat.

"Hey, Gems," I greeted her. She didn't respond, so I tried again. "How was your day, Gemma?"

"It was a pile of shit, that's what. I don't feel like getting into it with you right now, so just walk your lazy arse home."

"Woah! Peace, peace, Mercutio! Thou talk'st of nothing!" I held my hands up in defense, even though she was on the other side of the car.

She huffed for a second, a look of pure anger of her face. She hit the top of the car with the palm of her hand and grunt-screamed, before hopping in her blue Honda and slamming the door. She peeled out of the parking space and down the street. I stood there watching her drive off.

I jumped when I heard two short honks, and when I looked over, I saw the girl from this morning sitting in a red VW Bug, waving at me. Thanking my lucky stars, I jogged over to her and she rolled down her window.

"You look like you need a lift. Hop in!" She said, smiling at me. I smiled back and walked around the other side of her car, opening the passenger side door and sliding in.

"Thanks," I said, buckling my seatbelt.

"No problem. So, where do you live?" I told her my adress, then she asked how my first day went.

"It went well, I suppose. I mean, nothing special, really."

"Did you make any more friends?" I just shrugged and looked out the window. She eyed me from the cornor of her vision before changing the subject. "Well, how about crushes? See anybody you like?"

I smirked at her and rolled my eyes.

"Come on! There has to be someone! At least someone interesting? There are plenty of girls at this school, plus you are cute enough, you probably have them all drooling at your feet, huh?" My smile fading quickly, and I shifted uncomfortably in my seat.

"Err, not necessarily..."

"What? Really? All the guys are interested in Kaylie, Brooke, Rena, you know. All the popular girls." Mary-Anne rambled on.

"Well," I started, taking a breath, "There not really my type."

"Oh! I get it! You don't like the snobby girls. You like a girl with good personality. Makes sense. There's Morgan, Layla-"

"No, I mean girls."

"What?"

"Girls. Girls aren't my type."

Mary-Anne stared at the road for a second in confusion. She was probably deciding whether or not to kick me out now, or wait until we stopped at a stop light.

"Well..." She said quietly, "There's not a whole lot of options in that area," She finished louder.

"Huh?"

"Gay guys, I mean. Not a whole lot of gay people at our school."

"Wait, so you're not mad that I'm...?"

"What?! No! To each is their own, it's none of my bussiness. I completely support it."

I smiled and thought, Wow. I can tell Mary was going to be a good friend of mine.
