I'm so excited! I am a couple minutes from my favorite place in the world, Anna Maria Island! Me and my family come here every spring break, my parents, my brother, Nathan and I. It is in the Gulf of Mexico side of Florida and the water is so blue and pretty. I break into a smile as we go past the sign that says Welcome to Anna Maria Island. We get to our rental house, me and Nathan immediately run to get the best room. I got a room with a TV, a queen sized be with a pretty blue comforter and an amazing view of the ocean. I love the ocean, the way it glistens in the moon and sun light and all of the creatures that live there. I start to change into my swim suit and head out the door leaving a note saying I'm going to the beach so mom won't worry. The moment I get there I throw my stuff down and dive under the blue waves. I swim till I'm about 20 feet from shore and I hear something.
"My Queen! My Queen! Help! Help!" I look around and there is no one around. I look again and a little clown fish is starring at me from under the water. I think I'm imagining things till he waves his fin at me.
"Please help! " He says again and then he swims farther out from shore. I'm hesitant at first but I quickly get over my shock and follow him. It is a talking fish who wouldn't follow it? Now I'm a pretty good swimmer but this little fish is fast, I am having so much trouble keeping up with it. We swim for a little bit in silence and since my mind is going crazy with my ADHD, I don't realize how far out to sea we are. The fish suddenly stops and turns around to face me.
"Follow me. " He says then starts to disappear as he swims deeper. Why am I following this fish? I shrug and take a deep breath before diving under the waves. I start to see the top of a coral reef when I realize I'm running out of air and start to freak out. I'm going to drown, this is how I die. The surface is to far up and the sea floor is too far down to push myself to the top. I can see the words on my tombstone now, "Went crazy, followed a "talking" fish underwater, and drowned. I give up and let the sea water into my lungs, I squeeze my eyes shut waiting for the suffocating feeling but when it never comes I open my eyes. I'm still alive. I turn around to find the fish right behind me.
"How is this possible? " I ask him.
"Don't you know? You are the daughter of Poseidon. " He says bluntly then turns around and continues descending towards the reef. I follow him still a little freaked out. Poseidon? Like Greek gods? But if he is my real father who is my father I've spent my whole life with? We get to the bottom to find a dolphin stuck in a net, struggling. I immediately swim to it but almost gets hit by it's tail.
"Calm down so I can get this off you." I say gently causing it to freeze and comply.
"My Queen. Thank you. " She says as I take off the net. She does a quick bow before swimming to the surface for some much needed air. There is suddenly a bright green light above me making me to look towards the surface where it is coming from. What I see is not what I was expecting, it is a sea green Trident. I stare at it till it went away and I look towards the fish and to find the dolphin next to him, both of which are bowing. Well kind of. They are basically just tilting their bodies down a little bit. They introduced themselves as Nemo and Wisp and we soon became friends talking about our lives and playing games like hide and go seek. I then notice it is getting dark outside so I say bye to my new friends and swim back to shore. I walk into the house to find two very angry parents standing in the kitchen with their arms crossed.
"Where in the world were you! " My mom screams at me making me angry. How dare she yell at me! She has been lying to me my whole life.
"Swimming." I say trying to keep my anger in check and making a vein on mom's head pop out. I feel the ground shake a little but both of us ignore it.
"Swimming!?!?! For 5 hours! " She yells again but I don't care, they lied to me.
"Yes, and I'm not sure why you are yelling at me. I should be mad at both of you!" I start getting angrier. "You never told me I had powers or a godly parent!! Or that he isn't my real dad." I fee; the water around me and in the pipes get restless. Then all of the sudden everything goes black as I fall unconscious. When I wake up I am in my bed and it is 10 am. I get up and head to the kitchen only to find my mom talking to a guy and a girl I've never seen before. The guy looks a lot like the old me, sea green eyes and black hair. I now have brown hair cause I dyed it from its original black and blue eyes, colored contacts, from its original sea green. The girl has pretty blond hair with grey eyes and they are both wearing an orange shirt that says Camp Half Blood on it. They all stop their conversation and stare at me as I walk to the fridge. I pull out the orange juice and drink it from the carton before closing it and placing it back in the fridge. I turn around to see my mom right behind me almost to tears. I feel bad but she broke my trust and that is something even my mom has to work for. I can be a very nice and loyal person but once you break that you practically break our relationship. I ignore her and look behind her to the strangers.
"Who are you guys?" I ask. They look at each other with a ton of emotions flashing across their faces before turning back to us. After a short silence, which felt like hours with my ADHD, she opened her mouth to say something but was cut off by my mother.
"Pearl, I'm so sor....." She started to say but was cut off by me this time.
"No. You don't get to be sorry. You have lied everyday for the past 13 years. You could have told the truth but you didn't. You even went as far as to photo shop dad...Jack into my baby picture at the hospital so I wouldn't know." I said tears streaming down my face. Usually when someone lies to me I'm just hurt a little bit but this time it was a huge lie. She broke me.
"I understand you hating me and I would like to explain but you don't have much time. This is Percy and Annabeth, they will be taking you to a summer camp called Camp Half Blood. They will explain everything on the way." She said softly keeping her eyes focused on the floor. I looked at her in shock before storming out and into my room. What is going on? Why is she sending me away? Who are these people? Where is Nathan and Jack?
