I continued to talk aloud in hopes that searchers would hear. "Things can't get any weirder than this."
As I blurted the last syllable, strange got stranger when I found an inscription on the other side of the casket. Not cuneiform. English.
IF YOU SOLVE MY RIDDLE, MY TREASURE UNTO YOU. THIS, I PROMISE.
"Snap! What the heck was an Egyptian Pharaoh doing with knowledge of the English language and our modern number system?"
A twinkle in the corner drew my eyes. I turned to survey the other corners, finding they all glistened with sparkles as if the Nile poured through them. Even from afar, I could make out that each corner held topaz gemstones, inlaid as numbers and zigzagging down, alternating between the left and right walls. Just like the sarcophagus.
It took but a moment to identify the corner matching the numerical pattern of the serpent's tail.
"What's the secret? The riddle is somehow tied to Pi."
After walking to the corner, I stood on the tips of my toes and stretched my hand up to the highest number and touched it, then the next. And another and another until the last at my feet.
