She didn't say much to me the next day, and I couldn't blame her. I would be pretty embarrassed too if I had hurled all over someone's shoes.
The day had passed quickly and soon the sun had set, marking the beginning of the festivities. I didn't know what exactly was being celebrated but I know we were going to photograph it.
"Felix! Is that you?!"
We both turn to see a half-naked man coming towards us. He had the signature long dark hair and has paint across his chest for symbols. A long headdress flowed down his back, which I assumed meant he had a high power position.
"Kota! It's been a long time!" Felix yells, wrapping the young man into a hug. When it lasts past friendly, the jelly monster inside rears it's ugly head. Though, I still remain quiet.
"Are you ready?" he asks her, never looking at me once. Rude much?
She nods, draping one arm around my neck. "My apprentice and I are as ready as we'll ever be!"
He looks me up and down in a condescending manner, as if I was no threat for him. To be honest, I probably wasn't. He is muscular whereas I am quite scrawny.
The ceremony was like what you would see on old Native American movies, with a bunch of half dressed men dancing around a campfire.
"Turn your ISO and speed up," Felicity comments from behind me. I blush, following her orders without a word.
"Put down your flash. We want the light source to be the fire. Also, it's really distracting."
"Bossy much?" I say under my breath, but still push down my flash.
Of course, her orders improved my shots in a huge way.
"Leave your f-stop between four and seven. If you go to eight or eleven, your shots will be too dark. Just make sure to focus as well as you can, maybe even put on automatic focus. It's not a crime, I promise." She must remember her time in Mr. Sawyer's class and how you lost points for having anything automatic enabled.
Kota pulls Felix into the dance ring, trying to help her dance like them. She giggles at him as she stumbles in the circle. Instead, I take the opportunity to photograph the photographer.
Her lips.
Her legs.
Her beautiful smile.
I made sure to capture her personality in every shot. Every laugh, or smile, I grabbed in a forever shot.
Soon, Felix makes her way over to me, a giant smile on her face. She links elbows with mine, skipping alongside me towards our car.
"So," I begin, clearing my throat. "You can Kota huh?"
She giggles, turning her face away from me. "He's not my type, Caleb. I guarantee that."
"What's your type then?" I ask, my hands slightly shaking as I climb into the driver's seat.
"You."
I turn my head, my lips coming into hers unexpectedly.
Oh my god.
I'm kissing Felicity.
How did this even happen?
She pulls away momentarily. "Stop thinking, Caleb. Just embrace the moment." Then her lips are back to mine, though they're definitely more determined this time.
Oh god, never let this end.
***Sooo very sorry for the wait. I was gone most of the summer and finally have a free moment, also because I quit college. I do have an interview tomorrow for a job so wish me luck! Oh, and if you enjoyed this, hmu with a vote or a comment :)***
