The rest of the next few weeks went by quite fast for Kai. Each day was the same. Keith would steal something from the superiors. Amon would be a dork. Kaito would make smart statements. Loki would be edgy. Lain would be creepy. And the twins would focus on scaring Amon. And Kai would do what she does everyday. Chill with each of them. Talk to them about life, ask them about their life, and have a great time with all of them. Each night they all came to her house and they sat in a cult circle and talked, and then left.
Each day Kai would count the days until she might die. And each day she got stronger, and slowly got the hang of the knives. Until the last day of training she decided to ask Lain about Keith and Amon's pasts.
"So Lain can I ask you something." She chimed.
"What is it Shrimpy?" He asked.
"So Keith, and Amon. What's up with their backstories?"
"I'd rather not tell you the details, you should hear it from them." Lain began to explain. He told her that Amon and Keith grew up together on the streets. Amon's older sister sacrificed herself for Amon. She was taken by District 23 and was tortured and killed and shit. In the meantime Keith was abandoned by his parents, had no friends and almost starved to death multiple times. He later met Amon. Amon was skilled in combat for someone his age and became friends with Keith. A few years after that they met the twins, and then later Lain.
"Well, thanks for telling me Lain. I'll see you at my place later then?"
"Yes."
At the end of training they all met at Kai's place. Everyone spoke of how frightened they were, and that they could all die in a split second.
"Well guys, and Kai. Tomorrow marks the first day of the end of our lives. I love ya guys, and if you find my body floating in a river you all get an item I stole from the superiors." Keith announced.
Everyone announced their will and after they left. And like always, Kai curled up in her potato sack.
"See you soon Brother" She whispered.
