I woke up, gasping for breath, trying to forget the horrible nightmare I had.Focusing on just inhaling and exhaling. With a final sigh, I had calmed down.
Suddenly I realised, I wasn't on the cold floor of my prison cell. I was on a warm bed, in a well furnished room. The blankets that had been upto my chest, were now bunched up at my waist, the sheets all rumpled from my tossing and turning. I couldn't really describe the room. It wasn't like it had been back at Wayland Manor. All I can say it that, It was all black... For some reason.
There was glass and steel desk in the corner of the room, scattered with books and papers, a nightstand beside the bed, a small silver box on it. Clothes were scattered in one corner of the floor.
Where the heck am I?
Suddenly, memories of everything, from my escape till I was rescued, flashed before my eyes. I stumbled out of bed and landed on the floor on my knees.
What if something happened to Jonathan? What if he was attacked and they caught me again? What if that was all a trick? A cruel trick to play with the mind?
All thought of rationality flew out of the window as I scrambled for the door, trying to open it.
And it opened.
No, this could be another trick. I need to get out of here.
But first, I need to find Jonathan.I walked out of the room. There was a small corridor that lead to another room on the other side. I first decided to check the doors planted on either side of the room I just exited to see it if they had Jonathan in any of them.
My feet making no sound, I opened one of the doors to see it was completely empty. Same result with the next few doors.
I started to panic, fear filling me to the brim.
"Jonathan?"
I called out for him, hoping to get a response. But I found none.I tried a few times again, but got the same result everytime. I was feeling really scared now.
I couldn't help it.
"JONATHAN?!"
I screamed, tears rolling down my face. I wanted Jonathan. My knees collapsed once again, landing on the floor, my throat clogging on salty tears.
Suddenly I heard footsteps rushing towards me. Fearing it was them, I started to crawl away, blind to where I was going.
A pair of strong arms circled around my shoulder, pulling me closer to a broad, hard chest.
"Hush river. It's all over. You're free. I'm here. Shhh..."
I know of only one one person who calls me river.
"J-Jonathan?"
A hand cupped the back of my head, fingers running gently through my hair, tips massaging my scalp.
"Yes river. Its me."
A sob escaped my lips as I fisted his shirt in my hands and cried onto his chest.
"I thought they captured me again, that they-that they had -When I woke up and you weren't there-"
