I closed the book and held it against my chest as I sat crosslegged in on Jonathan's bed, staring at his black wall and sighed.

Well, that certainly went well.

With my free hand, I subconsciously playing with my ocean-blue hair, which was falling way past my waist.
It's been a day since we, he said and I qoute, paid his dear sister a well required visit. And didn't that turn out wonderful. Not only did I meet my supposedly sister-in-all, I met my supposed mother-in-law and her werewolf fiance who threatened to blow off Jonathan's leg and punched me in the eye too.

As soon as we escaped the fight scene, Jonathan had ran in and placed me on the counter top and immediately was applying an ice pack to my swollen eye. Jace had slammed his door shut and was cursing out in his room, while Jonathan continued to fuss over me. Not that I didn't like the attention, but after a while it gets a little too much.

I couldn't even sleep properly last night. Memories of my time in the prison kept replaying in my head and finally, I decided to just lie awake and stare at the ceiling while Jonathan clung onto me like a koala.

I guess I eventually fell asleep cause this morning, or rather, afternoon, when I woke up, Jace and Jonathan were no where to be seen, although they did leave a note saying food was ready and that they'd be back by late evening.

So here I was, stuck in an apartment, and finished with 'A Tale of Two Cities.' and eggs and sandwich. I must say, the mundane author Charles Dickens had a talented gift for sure. As does Jace. I'm pretty sure he made breakfast. I doubt whether Jonathan even knows how to handle a pan on a stove.

Already bored out of my mind, I decided to take a shower, try to freshen up a bit and kill some time. Slipping out of my clothes, I hopped in under the showerhead and allowed the hot water to clean me up.

After a long and relaxing cleansing, I stepped out into the room in nothing but a white towel wrapped around me. Quickly, I threw on black pajama shorts, white socks and one of Jonathan's black tshirt.

I fell on the bed and pulled the duvet over me, suddenly feeling drowsy. Letting out a deep breath, I closed my eyes and let the sound of my own heartbeat lull me to sleep.

"River... River, wake up."
I just hummed at the person, not opening my eyes.

"Atleast have breakfast. Then you can go back to sleep."
The person continued to plead, moving away a few strands of hair sticking to my face.

Wait- did he just say breakfast?

My eyes fluttered open to see Jonathan seated in the bed beside my body, legs dangling off the side.

"Breakfast?" was the first thing that escaped my mouth. I mentally facepalmed at my lack of manners.

"You slept through the whole of yesterday. I let you sleep, you did look tired in the morning. But I can't exactly let you sleep all the time, now can I?" a breathtaking smile graced his lips, I couldn't help but smile back.
He leaned down and pecked my lips before I could stop him.

"Good morning."

My smile grew wider.
"Good morning to you too. I'll see you downstairs."
