Draco

Draco’s heart stops beating for a millisecond as soon as Hermione murmurs, “I...I think I know who is behind all this.”

He doesn’t know how to react but he stumbles his way to the hospital bed. Harry seems to be in just as much of a shock, but neither of them know who yet. Hermione just seems to be staring at the paper, at something that made her realization come. Draco looks in her line of vision to see her neat handwriting in the middle of the page, scrawling one name.

    Amelia Lestrange.

Draco’s heart is beating out of control at the horror of this statement. How is this possible? Bellatrix never had a child, well, to his knowledge. He would have thought that being her, well, nephew he would have some idea, but this just seems like an impossible.

Harry sees the name too and gasps. “Hermione, that can’t be right. Bellatrix never had a daughter in the records.”

“But it does make sense. I mean, Harry, think about it. The cruel ways, the way they seem to thrive on torture, the...the laugh,” Hermione shudders, but Draco remembers as well. He feels Hermione walk over to him and sit down, putting an arm around him to pull him closer to her side. He allows his head to rest atop hers as Hermione places hers on his shoulder. They hold each other because they are both vulnerable, they are remembering a traumatizing event still so fresh in their minds.

Harry just sighs and paces, his shoes echoing off of the floor, annoying Draco to no end. But he keeps silent, calming himself with the smell of Hermione’s hair. Her warmth seeping into his cold heart that doesn’t seem to be working right after this realization. But Hermione can always break down his barriers to reach his heart in the darkest of times. It’s one of the reasons he loves her so.

“-Aurors together, go through evidence, and, oh, we need to plan an attack but it has to be precise,” Draco zones back to reality where Harry is ranting about who knows what.

“Harry, it will be fine. I can send the patronus, have the meeting here. I’m not leaving without Draco and the rest will fit easily. Stop stressing. Yes, this is a terrible situation but we can do this,” Hermione explains, but only Draco can hear the rest of her statement, “I hope.”

Draco grips her tighter to him and places a kiss upon her forehead, letting her know that he is here, that he is not going to allow anyone to harm her again. When she found out that he had gone on his own because the Minister did not allow for a rescue mission, Hermione was seething. He had never seen her more wound up than that moment, making him almost feel bad for the Minister for being the man of her wrath. But he found it kind of attractive when she is riled up, well, if it isn’t directed at him of course.

Hermione leans further into him before sending a quick patronus with a message to send Aurors that will be on the case for the rest of this fight. It can’t be called a war, no, not very many people have actually died since the dealings were only known to those in the Ministry. But Draco knows that if they are not terminated soon, a war could very well break loose. This would be disastrous, especially when the Wizarding world is still recovering from the last war caused by Voldemort.

It doesn’t take too long for Hermione’s team to arrive, forcing Draco to let go so they can all hug her, making sure the woman they look up to is alright. He loves the community created within the teams of Aurors. When they trust each other with their lives, they become so close that any disturbance to a member, no matter how small causes the whole team to rush to help. That is why, when Draco was unable to get a team to go with him to rescue Hermione, the rest of the members who weren't with Hermione were informed and salvaged the whole house, making sure nothing was left behind. They were asked to bring any evidence to the meeting, but only a small diary of sorts can be found in the hands of the Aurors.
