The whole movie was a tear-jerker. As we watched Anna turn to ice, I turned my head to look at Brennan. His eyes were watering as Elsa screamed Anna's name. I scooched myself closer to him and whispered, "Are you crying?" He jumped a little and turned his head to look at me. A tear cascaded down his cheek, and I reached my hand out, brushing it away with my thumb.
"It's just so sad," he whispered, gesturing towards the screen. "They're sisters and Elsa finally shows Anna that she really loves her and they unthaw their kingdom! How can that NOT be super sweet!" I laughed softly and he joined in, taking my hand in his. I rested my shoulder against his, and laid my head into the crook of his neck. His arm came around my shoulders resting against my forearm. When the movie ended, he helped me to the car, everything else under his arm. We rolled the windows down on the way home, the radio turned up halfway.
"I had a wonderful time tonight, Brennan." I looked over at him and saw a smile creep across his face in the dark.
"I did too, Lindsay. Thank you for letting me take you out tonight. I really wish that we could have done something really super crazy,but-"
"I'm pregnant," I finished for him. "It's okay though. This was better. Not many guys take a girl to a drive-in movie anymore." He chuckled, drowning out Demi Lovato's voice for a few short moments. He guided the truck up my driveway and parked it next to the path that lead up to the house. I undid my seat belt as he came around to open my door. He grasped my hand gingerly as I hopped down from the seat. He held onto my hand as we walked up to the house. He helped me up the stairs and we stood before the door, standing so close to each other.
"It was an honor getting to take you out, Lindsay," he said kindly. I smiled at him and covered my mouth.
"It was an honor to have you as my date this evening, Brennan." He shuffled his feet nervously and rubbed the back of his neck. "Is there something wrong?" He looked up at me, a smile on his face still.
"I was just wondering...if maybe..."
"Maybe what?" I bit my lip, anticipating his words. He cleared his throat a few times and turned his beautiful blue eyes to look into mine.
"I was wondering...I mean I really want to...kiss you...you know? So, I was just wondering....can I? Kiss you I mean? I don't want to seem like the guy that is rushing into things way too fast, but I REALLY like you, Lindsay, and I-" I put my finger over his soft pink lips and he was silent. I giggled.
"You don't have to ask, Brennan. You can kiss me, if you want to." His lips curved into a smile as I slowly moved my finger from his lips. He took a step forward, and he dipped his head forward as I tilted mine back. Our lips met, and it was like the breath was taking straight from my lungs. His hands rested on my waist, and I noticed that something was flickering. He pulled back chuckling.
"I think your father is trying to say it's time to come in," he said, still laughing. I turned my head and saw that the porch light was flickering. I shook my head and looked over at him.
"I think it's just an electrical problem." I rose to my tiptoes and kissed him again. After a minute, I stepped back, and Brennan's face was priceless. His cheeks were flushed, and his eyes were as big as saucers. "Goodnight, Brennan," I said as I walked to my door. I heard him fumble on the stairs and held back the laughter that was dying to escape my throat.
"Yeah, I'll see you later, Lindsay." I heard his feet smack against the pathway as he ran back to his truck. I opened the door slowly and closed it behind me.
"Did you have fun?" a voice asked me. I jumped and spun around to see Angela, standing in the middle of my foyer. She had on jeans, a baggy shirt, and there was some gauze wrapped around her head. I hurried towards her and threw my arms around her neck. She laughed as she wrapped her arms around me. I stepped back from her, trying not to cry.
"How are you here right now?!" She chuckled.
"Doctors discharged me early, and my mom said that I could wait here for you to come back. That's when I saw you and Brennan. Your dad would've killed you if you had done that with him flickering the lights!" My eyes widened and I smacked her shoulder playfully.
"That was you?!"
"Who else would interrupt such a cute moment?! Did you have fun though?!" I nodded my head, still smiling from my good fortune.
"It was pretty great, no doubt about that." I crossed my arms over my chest.
"I am really happy that you found such a sweet guy, Linds." I giggled and started for the stairs.
"Yeah, me too. I got to get up to bed though. Can't be up at all hours of the night you know?" Angela rolled her eyes and started heading back for the living room.
"It's only ten o'clock, you dork." I laughed as I started up the stairs.
"Yeah and by the time I get upstairs it'll be midnight," I joked. I heard her laugh bounce off of the walls.
"Whatever. Goodnight, Lindsay!"
"Goodnight, Angie!" It wasn't midnight when I reached the top of the stairs thankfully. I walked into my room and traded my dress for an oversized shirt and baggy sweatpants. I laid myself down on the bed, and pulled the covers over myself. I tucked my head into the pillows, already drifting off. 'I think I might be really falling for this guy,' I thought as I finally slipped into blackness.
