Nicolate sat on the bench in front of the subway crying. Her heart broken by someone she thought she could trust but she learned the truth, in the world the only person you can trust is yourself.

------- A Few Minutes Earlier-------

"Ma ma," Nicolate yelled grabbing her coat, "I'm going to the market. I'll be back in a little bit," with that she was gone and headed to the subway to get to the market.

As she rode the subway she couldn't help but watch a family sitting by her. It was a man with a woman and a little girl. The little girl was on her dad's, Nicole presumed, lap and he was telling her a story of the princess and the prince. The look on her mom's, Nicole concluded by her and the girl's similar features, face led her to believe that it was about them in fairy tale form. The reason it struck a nerve in Nicolette is because it reminded her of how her and her family were when she was younger.

When the subway soon approached her stop she hurried to get off and not to be around to see anymore of their happiness. She walked up the steps slowly letting the fresh wind slowly hit her and the noise of cars approach consume her. She walked up the street a little before making it to her favorite market, Brooklyn Flea. They had the best antiques and charms there.

She happily approached her favorite booth, Mrs. Greenlie's booth of antique charms that weren't too expensive. "Hi Greenlie. Anything new?"

The woman smiled hearing the teen, showing her smile lines, "as a matter of fact I saved something for you," she clapped happily pulling out a bag. Reaching her hand in the bag she pulled out an owl charmed necklace that look very expensive.

"That looks too expensive," Nicole sighed, "anything else?"

"I'm giving this to you," Mrs. Greenlie smiled, "you deserve it. You are an amazing girl and need to spoil yourself some times."

"Oh I can-" "You can and will," Mrs. Greenlie told her serious, "Now take it and go home. It's getting late." Nicolette smiled a real smile, "yes ma'am."

Nicole slid the necklace on and turned to walk back to the subway but was stopped when a face she hadn't seen in years appeared, her father. He was looking at jewelry with a woman wrapped around her arm and a little boy holding his hand. The woman had a baby on her hips and a smile on her face. Her father kissed the woman's head and smiled at the seller. Nicolate decided that before he saw her, she had to leave. So what did she do? She ran. She ran as fast as she could till she reached the bench in front of the subway and decided that it was the right place to cry. No body would mess with a crying teenager on a park bench, right?

As she wiped her tears a voice called out, "Nicolate?" The crying teen looked up to see the group of friends walking to her. Riley, Maya, Lucas, Zay, and Farkle all walked over worried.

Before Nicole could hide the evidence on her face they were in front of her. "What's wrong," Riley asked sitting to her left as Maya sat next to Riley. Farkle quickly took the seat to her right and Zay and Lucas stood next to Farkle. "Nothing. I'm fine," she said before sniffling a little.

"Clearly not," Maya said serious, "why are you crying?" Nicolate went to stand up but Farkle grabbed her hand and pulled her back down, "you aren't fine."

"I don't want to talk about it," Nicole snapped, "I'm fine! I always am! I'm fine now! I was fine before! I'll always be fine! Because that's the answer everyone wants to hear, ISN'T IT! When they ask that question they don't want the real answer they want that answer! Especially when something goes wrong! No one actually wants the truth, they never do," she ended with a whisper and tears falling. Farkle looked at the girl sadly and grabbed her hand, "how," she asked looking at him, "how can he lie to us saying he loved us but leave and stay with her and his new family? How can he forget I exist? Am I really that big of a screw up?"

"No," Farkle answered, "you are amazing. He's the screw up. The fact he left his responsibility, his child? He is missing out," he shook his head, " and I want to know the truth. I want to know if you are really okay. I want you to tell me when it isn't and let me be there. I want to tell you that it won't be perfect but I am here." His friends smiled lightly at his answer to the girl. Nicolate sobbed and leaned on Farkle, crying on his shoulder.

"I'm not use to having people care," she whispered but everyone heard. Riley grabbed her hand, lightly squeezing it, "we are your friends. We will always care. We are always one text, call, or yell away." Zay nodded, "no matter what." Lucas smiled, "whatever you need."

Riley, "a sister."

Maya, "an ear."

Lucas, "a body guard."

Zay, "a comedian."

Farkle, "a shoulder to cry on or a hand to hold."
