LUCYS POV
I walked out of the bathroom and into the living room to see my mother sitting on the couch and Luke no where to be found.
"Where's Luke?" I ask walking over to my mom. I scan the room and hear nothing coming from around the house.
"Oh, he left.... I'm not sure why though..." She told me with no emotion in her voice. She gets up and walks to the counter pouring herself another glass of wine.
"What! What did you do?" I yell walking over to her. I then feel my phone vibrate in my back pocket. I open a message from Luke to read 'Hey I'm out in my car, please come with me' I instantly run to my front door and see Luke in his car waiting for me. I run to his car and get it. I see Luke on his phone and wonder who it could be.
"Hey, Who were you on the phone with?" I ask, buckling my seat belt. I take in the endless aroma of his car and feel happiness engulf me.
"Oh, it was nobody to worry about." Luke says quickly seeming nervous. He doesn't look at me and puts the car in gear and speeds away. His nervousness makes feel a little uneasy. It seems that all the caution that I've felt towards him has come back. I kind of forgot about all the bad in him while I spent those short few hours with him, now it's slowly but surely coming back.
"Okay, well do you want to get something to eat now." I ask trying to change the subject and ease away the friction.
"Yeah, I know this really good sports bar just downtown it'll take about 40 minutes... is that okay?" Luke asks now looking away from the road and into my eyes. Even though he's looking into my eyes, he seems distant.. Like his mind is on something other than our dinner plans. The blue in his eyes isn't baby blue more like a grey-ish blue and his palms are sweaty when he touches my hand.
"Yeah, that's fine... but just out of curiosity, what are you thinking about. Your mind seems to be in a different place and you seem tense." I reply trying to tap into the mind of someone opposite of me.
"I've hurt a lot of great people in the past.... But I don't want to hurt you too..." Luke spoke in a quiet voice. He knew that I knew he has done bad things and hurt people, but this seemed different. It seemed deeper, darker, and more personal. The thought of this frightened me, but what he just said somewhat comforted me.
I didn't reply, not knowing what to say. I was confused on what he was talking about. I had a feeling that it was about the mysterious person he was on the phone with. Do I really know what I'm getting myself into? What if I'm just one of Luke's play toys and he's just starting? I don't even know the person that I'm willingly going to dinner and houses with.
When we arrive to the sports bar I see it's named Johnny's Bar and Grille but seems more of a bar than anything. I get out the car and walk with a little distance between Luke and I. As we walk in the smell of beer hits me in the face and the sound of men talking rather loudly flows into my eardrums. The hostess is wearing a black low cut top and has more piercings than I can count.
"Hi, only two?" She asks not even looking at us to check. I read her name tag to see her name is Sunshine, which is odd because she is nearly the opposite of a ray of sunshine.
"Yeah, could we sit somewhere in the back?" Luke asks motioning toward a dark area with graffitied, brick walls. Sunshine gives Luke an odd look but leads us to a booth in a back corner.
"Do you want something to drink? We have Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, Tea...." Sunshine asks only looking at Luke, slowly licking her lips then biting her lower lip.
"Coke and Sweet Tea, thanks." Luke says for both of us with no emotion. It seems that Sunshines attempts to get Luke's attention has failed.
"How'd you know that I'd get Sweet Tea?" I ask half shocked half confused.
"You order it everyday at lunch, I took a stab," Luke replies with a smirk. It's amazing how he acts one way with certain people but acts totally opposite with certain people.
"Oh, well I didn't realize you payed such attention to me."
"Beauty catches attention,"
I was playing with napkin, but I slowly looked up to see blue eyes looking into mine. Luke's expression was totally serious but all of his emotion was in his eyes.
LUKES POV
"Beauty catches attention,"
Lucy was playing with her napkin but when those words fell from my lips, she slowly looked up to me. Her dark blue eyes came into contact with mine and she slowly parted her lips as if she was going to say something, but nothing came out.
As she moved her dark locks away from her face, she said "Luke.... I... I don't know what to say.."
"You don't have to say anything, but I do want you to answer a question for me, okay?" I responded not loosing contact with her beautiful eyes. Gosh, her eyes were beautiful.
"Okay, what's your question?" Lucy said grabbing her drink from the waitresses hand. I read that her name is Sunshine, even though she's nearly the opposite. I almost say something to her when she gives Lucy a dirty look, but decide it would only cause a scene.
I waited to respond until Sunshine had left. I didn't want her to hear any of my business because that's all she wants to here, frankly.
"Tonight, will you stay over at Tyler's house with me? And before you answer, let me explain. I thought we would lay out underneath the stars and build a little tent with lights and sleep in there, away from Tyler and Ashton." I say in hopes that she would say yes. I've never really had such an attraction to a girl like this and I don't mind it.
"Well... umm.. yeah, I would really like to. The problem is my mom, she could either care less or freak out about it" She says looking away from me and to her lap. She's so cute when she's shy. Hell, she's adorable all the time.
I grab her hand and bring her attention back to my eyes and say "Don't worry about your mom, I have her all figured out"
Lucy doesn't respond but gives me an amused look as if she doesn't quite believe me. But I've had encounters with moms like Victoria and I know exactly how to deal with them.
When I look up I see Sunshine walking towards us with two drinks in hand. As she walks closer I can see that she has added red lipstick to her pounds of makeup. She quikly sat down our drinks with straws and walked away. The slut doesn't even know what the hell she's doing.
"Where is she going? Isn't she going to take our order?" Lucy asks wiht confusion written all over her face. Clearly she hasn't been to a place like this before. Pubs like this have shitty waitresses and drunk men. Although they have really good food and I always see myself coming back.
"I don't know, but if you want I can go get her and make her or we can just wait,"
"Oh it's cool we can wait, I wouldn't want to cause a scene or anything..."
The thought of Lucy getting embarrassed or upset over my asking the waitress to take our order makes me laugh a little, but it also makes me worried. Worried for the future... If she gets a little worked up over something this small, imagine her reaction to some of the fights I get in or the real scenes I cause. But maybe I'll be able to control myself for her and I wouldn't ever have to see her reaction. But I know myself better than that, something is bound to happen.
