She spoke so soflty, with her eyes facing her lap, that we strained to hear her.

Let's just say that reply was...unexpected...

"Oh please! She's got to be lying! Why on earth would The Man in the Moon tell a spirit to hide from us?" Bunny said, accusation clear in his voice. Ember's eyes narrowed, and she took a few deep breathes. We all watched as she closed her eyes. Her hair began to steam. Slowly, she stood from the bed. She was a bit shaky, and I had to refrain from stepping forward to steady her. She opened her eyes and turned to us.

"Listen, it's not like Manny told me why I was hiding. I've been waiting..." She paused, swaying a bit. I nearly ran over right then, but tooth beat me to it.

"Sit down, dear. Don't mind Bunny, I believe you" Tooth paused, Ember gave her a light smile. "If Manny told you to hide, then why show yourself now? Of all times?"  She finished. We watched as she let out a long sigh, releasing a bit of flames from her mouth. Tooth jumped back, and she threw her hand over her mouth.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't- I mean sometimes-" She cut off and sighed again, mouth closed this time. "Manny told me it was time. Time for me to come out of hiding, that I needed to go to Burgess. When I woke up, I-"

"What do you mean woke up?" I blurted before I could stop myself. Everyone looked at me, and she was confused at first. Her face perked in realization.

"Oh, I can only talk to Manny in my sleep, it's weird...I know. Don't know why, just how it's always been I guess" She paused, thinking. "I guess I don't really know why Manny has told me to do...well, anything" She trailed off, staring at her feet.

The room was quiet. No one knew what to say. No one knew what to do.

"So.." Ember broke the thick silence "Jack a guardian yet?" She said with an amused smile. Everyone turned to me, and I stepped back, throwing my hand up in surrender.

"Hey, woah. I never agreed to this!" I shouted, as a yeti lifted me off my feet and carried me to the globe room. I could hear the girls giggling, and everyone came into view. "Put me down!" I struggled in his grip, and he dropped me on the floor. I sent a glare his direction, and sat up.

Ember walked away from tooth's steadying arms-giving her a reassuring smile when the fairy said she shouldn't be walking-and walked over to me. She held out a hand and I looked at it suspiciously, causing her to roll her eyes.

"C'mon, don't give me the cold-shoulder, snowflake!" Ember remarked, and I let out a laugh. I went to take up her offer when our skin touched. It felt like fire was flowing through all the veins in my arms, and warming me from the inside. We both jumped back, alarmed.

"Did you...?"

"Feel that...yeah" She finished for me.

Well, hell.

I giggled again when the yeti dropped Jack. He glared at the fur ball, and sat up. I walked away from Tooth-assuring her protests- and reached a helping hand out to him. He stared at it suspiciously, and I rolled my eyes. A thought popped in my head and I smiled.

"C'mon, don't give me the cold shoulder, snowflake!" I remarked, earning a laugh from the frost spirit. He reached up to take my hand, when our skin collided. It felt like ice was flooding my nerves, cooling all the muscles in my arms from within. We both jumped back, alarmed.

"Did you...?" Jack strted, and I finished for him.

"Feel that...yeah"

"Well, hell" He muttered. I snickered, and watched him get up.
