The next day came around and Fat Amy ran into Beca's room. She opened the curtains revealing the big window. The sunshine lit up the room; showing the city of LA. "Rise and shine!" Amy yelled.

"No" Beca groaned and pulled the covers over her head. It was impossible to wake a grumpy Beca up. Especially when she had work.

"If you don't get out of that bed and into that shower in one minute, I'm rolling on top of you" Amy threatened, knowing that scares Beca up.

"Fine!" Beca yelled and got up. "Can you at least-"

"I'm gonna get coffee. No worries" Amy declared and sat on the couch. She turned the tv on and Beca glared. "What? You want me to go now?" Amy asked.

"Uh yeah, how do you expect me to go to work without coffee?" Beca asked causing a laugh to escape Amy's mouth.

"Oh! You forgot didn't you?" Amy asked causing Beca to raise an eyebrow. Then she remembered. "You and-"

"Chloe! I agreed to? Fuck!" Beca cursed and stormed into the bathroom.

               ---------------------------------

Chloe woke up to her alarm clock around 7 am. She knew Amy was waking Beca up at 8 and they'd meet for coffee at 10, but she was still anxious to get ready.

20 outfits in the span of 2 hours, finally she decided on one. Her blue skinny jeans, a loose white tshirt, her jean jacket, then blue high heels to top it off. She curled her hair and applied light makeup on. Beca always asked Chloe why she bothered with makeup back in college. They probably had the same bicker about it each night. Chloe didn't know at the time that she'd be wishing to have that same bicker back. Of course she was annoyed by it then, but now she would die just to have a normal argument like that.

Chloe left around 9:30, she wanted to be early to the coffee shop. The line got long around 8 and never really got quicker. She knew Beca would be angry and bitter more then she'll already be without coffee. That being said, Chloe ordered them both of their coffees. The redhead got her usual "caramel latte" and Beca's favorite "vanilla bean ice coffee". Afterwards, she sat in a small booth that was shoved in the back corner.

               ---------------------------------

"Beca! You're going to be late!" Fat Amy yelled at her bestfriend. Beca rushed out and fixed the leather jacket she was wearing. It was fall, so it was a little chilly outside. Especially mornings were a bit more brisk.

"Okay, I'll be back tonight. I'll text you when I'm on my way back" Beca said and rushed out. She ran back before Amy could close the door. "Please behave" Beca said causing Amy to make a face.

"Me? Fat Amy? To mis behave? Never!" She said and shut the door with surprisingly, no sarcastic comment on her "bloe" rants that filled Beca's ears from last night.

Beca got outside and lit the cigarette. A bad habit she picked up months ago. Beca's sister wasn't to blame, but she was. Beca's sister was now 20 and lived a lifestyle Beca never understood. She was always on the run. She'd appear on birthdays and holidays, or just pop in once in awhile. Otherwise, she laid low. One day when she was home for their dads birthday party, she was outside when Beca walked out.

                            FLASHBACK

Beca saw her sister walk outside which sparked a curiosity. She followed behind slowly. Beca opened the front door; shutting it quietly behind her. "Oh hey" Eliza said and looked like she was hiding something.

"You okay?" Beca asked and the girl nodded. Then Beca smelled it. The cigarette smoke. Their family was against anything drug related. No shocker Eliza was trying to hide it even at 20 years old.

"Don't rat me out" Eliza said and put the cigarette to her lips. She shivered from the freezing cold and looked at Beca. "It uh...helps" Eliza shrugged and looked back down.

"Fuck it" Beca said and took the cigarette from between the girls fingers. She put it to her lips and inhaled quickly; causing a fit of coughs. Eliza laughed at the girls first attempt. It was a common mistake, but still funny.

"Alright, try again. Go slow, you wanna feel it go into your chest" Eliza said after she calmed down from laughing. Beca nodded and put the cigarette to her lips. She felt like a teenager again by sneaking things around from their family. She inhaled slowly, let the smoke reach down to where she felt it in her chest. "Now slowly exhale" Eliza said. Beca slowly exhaled, letting the smoke fly out of her mouth.

"It helps" Beca agreed and Eliza nodded in agreement.

Beca took the slow inhale as she put her earbuds in. She used to be addicted to Chloe Beale. Chloe was her drug, now it was the nicotine to keep her mind active. She went to her Spotify and looked at a certain playlist. 'Beca' it was a simple name. She made it when she left college for a new playlist. She hit shuffle and the first song to come on was "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse. She turned up the volume a bit, then shoved the phone in her pocket. Her fingers returned to collect the cigarette from her lip. With that, she started to walk to the coffee shop.

The people she passed on the street were all different, but all the same. They all were either glued to their phones or glued to their next destination. Each inhale and exhale felt the same. Everything felt the same. Just now, she was going to see her old best friend.

The brunette walked into the small coffee shop. The inside was all wooden furniture, random vintage posters aligned the walls, a karaoke set to the back, little reading areas with a bunch of books, music played softly in the background. It was definitely a place Chloe would always go to. She looked at the line and groaned to herself. "Beca!" She heard and looked towards the back. Shoved in a back corner, tucked away in a booth was the red head.

"Let me just get my coffee-"

"I already got it" Chloe smiled warmly. Beca felt the smile nearly burn her heart. She walked over and sat down.

"You didn't have to. Do you want me to pay you for it?" Beca asked and pulled her wallet out.

"No! No, trust me. It's a favor I did for myself more then you. You without coffee still scares me" The redhead giggled and sipped her coffee. Beca smiled softly and sipped her own.

"You still remember what I usually get?" Beca asked, surprised the redhead bother to remember.

"Totes. You always made me get it in college. Hard to forget something I ordered each day" Chloe said with a hint of sadness at the end. Chloe felt weird when she started to order her own drink. She fucked up many times by ordering Beca's as well. Just she ordered and forgot that she was in LA and Beca was in NY.

"Hey, I was grateful for it" Beca chuckled a bit to lighten the mood back up.

They kept talking about life, catching up on what they missed. About forty minutes later, they left to head to the studio. This would be the first time in 5 years they'd be working together. Both of them were nervous, yet excited as can be to be back together.
