And there was no one! Thank goodness for that. I went in to see if my dad was in his room, probably on that phone that caused all this drama. I went inside, and the moment of truth...
No, he wasn't there either. "Fair enough", I said in my mind. He was probably in Hollywood, with the poor kidnapped kid. I could do nothing about that. I still wasn't sure if he was a criminal or not! I contemplated between going to the police or not, but I had no solid evidence, as my dad's phone was with him, and he was in Hollywood.
I was now thinking hard as to what to do. Obviously, there was not much to do. I was going to go to bed and wake up in the morning to see what would unfold. I would also probably go to school, however, there will be some explaining to do.
The next morning, I woke up to a very nice and sunny day. I got out of bed and Ross was waiting for me there. I made some cereal for Ross and myself. I then went ahead to get changed for school. I had instructed Ross not to open the door to any strangers and that I would knock on the door five times, and only then should he open the door.
I walked along the streets of San Fransisco for about ten minutes en route my school. I eventually reached there and I was welcomed by a very odd and depressed looking discipline master, who was angry with me for coming late the first time. He was angry with me this time too, but for a separate reason, the reason being that I hadn't come to school in almost a month and a half. He asked me why and I just said, I was sick, I had chickenpox which was immediately followed by dengue.
"Rather poor luck Dylan...", He said
"Yes, quite unfortunate", I replied as I walked away.
I went into my class and the only person who was not surprised by the fact that I wasn't in school for a while was Asher. He knew exactly what happened, but he remained quiet. The curious teacher obviously was puzzled herself just as the other kids were. I was bombarded with questions ranging from where I was to what happened, from are you okay to can we help. All of these questions were thrown straight at me. It wasn't surprising though. Curious kids will obviously wonder what happened to you if you are not in school for over a month when it isn't holidays.
Apart from the first fifteen to twenty minutes of class, when I was asked these bunch of questions, the day was pretty normal, not as I had expected it to be. The long and boring Monday afternoon finally drew to a close and it was time to go home. I was walking home with Asher.
We reached home and as soon as I walk through the door, there stood Ross, with duct tape put across his mouth. His hands and legs were tied up too. I was obviously puzzled and clueless, I first untied him from his little chair and head straight to questions,
"Who did this?", I asked angrily
"I'm not sure, he was masked, but I'm almost certain that it was your dad.", He replied.
"I'm leaving this place, I'd rather live on the streets than with you", he said
That was it! Ross had just left me and was now thinking of wandering around the streets of San Fransisco! What was the lunatic thinking? That, however, was the last I saw of Ross. I had no clue what to do, I quickly took a shower, thinking about everything that happened in the past few months as quick as I could.
I came out of the shower, changed up and headed towards the kitchen to see if there was something to eat. I needed something in my belly to even get me started on thinking about this whole situation. Guess what I saw?
Yes, you are right, it was my dad! He had casually got back home, probably when I was in the shower, and I was now basically living with a criminal.
"Dylan! Oh, Dylan, I wanted to speak to you for a while, please come closer!", He cried and said.
"No, I think I will keep a safe distance from you, if you are a kidnapper, then leave the house, if not, then our relationship is at serious risk and we will need to do some repairing to make it as good as it was two months ago", I replied nervously
"Oh! I was going to get to that... actually...
