CHAPTER 2
I woke up that morning feeling a little sore. I always had this thing that if I was nervous about something, I would get a stiff neck and a stiff back.
But, how could I not be nervous? I was supposedly going to go out for dinner with Avi Kaplan. Man, this was so sudden. It felt like I was dreaming.
My day went on sort of normal. But every time I thought about my evening appointment my hands would get cold and sweaty and my stomach would twist.
Anxiety made me company all day long…
When the clock ticked 5 o'clock, I heard the doorbell ring. I hurried my way downstairs shouting, “I’m coming, I’m coming!” Was I over-excited? Maybe.
I opened the door and saw beautiful Belle there, always for me. I started giggling and she did too.
We made our way to my room and she started looking inside my drawers for my flat iron and makeup, I supposed. So showed her where they were and proceeded to sit in front of my little dressing table.
Belle plugged both hairdryer and flat iron.
"I've got to admit, my dear. I have no idea what I'm doing," she admitted grabbing a hairbrush. She looked down at me worried. She did know how to do hair, but hadn't ever done makeup to someone else. She barely applied makeup on.
I patted her back, "Don't worry, good ole youtube’s always the answer."
By watching a few tutorials, I finally decided to go for a makeup style that made my face appear bright and clear, mostly as I normally wore it, but with a downwards moving black eyeliner.
Taking the brush in my hands, I began with concealing my dark circles, I hadn't had a goodnight sleep either.
Eyeliner was difficult, but it came out looking nice on me. My eyes ended up looking soft and puppy like. I loved them.
I finished the look with stained, kind of glossy lips. I knew the glossy part would fade... which was pretty much what I was expecting from the stained part. My lipstick never lasted. Maybe because I never invested in high quality ones.
I turned to the mirror and smiled. My eyes moved upwards to find my friend’s concentrated face, in her hands chocolate brown strands of hair.
My hair was naturally straight, with soft waves at the ends, and I always wore it all naturale. Whenever I went out, I just brushed it down and then flipped it over to get a less stiff feeling to it.
Belle was turning my hair into effortless soft curls. I knew she had already back-combed the crown of my head, because I had this amazing volume I was not familiar to. I catched with my sight some dark brown strands of hair.
“My two color hair, dude.” I chuckled at my friend.
She showed up three fingers. And exaggerating her diction, she said, “I’m counting black.” It wasn’t really necessary to do that, I was very good at lip reading. But I appreciated her concern.
“I don’t have any black strands anymore.” I narrowed my eyes.
“Ok, ok. You win” she pointed at me, then gestured thumbs up. I just snorted, but then smiled.
I loved when people brushed my hair, or did my hair, or even just touched my hair. So I might have relaxed a little too much when Belle was working on it.
My eyes were closed when Belle tapped my shoulder to show me the result of her work.
I made an awe face.
