"You still want to go to the game tonight?" I sighed for the umpteenth time during this conversation and readjusted the phone."Yes dad. When have I ever cancelled on you. Plus, this is the last chance I have to spend time with you before you go on your trip."
"Ok sweetheart, just making sure you aren't getting tired of spending time with your old man."
"Never."
"I'm glad. Look honey I've got to go, but I'll see you in a few hours. Love you."
"Love you too dad. See you soon."
"Bye sweetheart."
"Bye." I put the phone on the receiver and walked into the kitchen where my mom was making lunch.
"When's he picking you up? Same time as usual?" she asked.
"I think so," I said popping a grape into my mouth. "He didn't mention anything about a different time."
"Okay well I work tonight so you'll need your keys."
"Alright." She passed me a bowl of fruit salad and I made my way up to my room.
Once I'd sat on my bed I grabbed my phone.
Group Chat- Harper, Sophia, Kennedy, Delaney, Finley
Harper: hey fin are we still hanging out at your place after the game??
Kennedy: dude, we should totally have a proper slumber party!!
Finley: if that's you guys wanna do then I'm down
There were multiple replies, and Kennedy, Delaney and Sophia began making a "slumber party game plan". I tossed my phone onto the blanket and started to eat slowly. I was starting to get really excited for the game tonight. Dad said he got us tickets right up front. Sadly they aren't behind the player benches but I can't really complain. Tonight is the first game of the season, and the fact that he got seats right up front is surprising. The first few home games are usually sold out pretty quick, then things mellow out and less people show up when mid-season hits. My phone buzzed against my thigh and I looked toward the bright screen.
Delaney: HE is on the starting lineup tonight
Delaney: thought you'd want to know ;)
I blushed at the text, a smile making its way onto my face. Out of all of my friends Delaney is by far the worst when it comes to teasing about crushes. If she didn't know how shy I was, she'd of probably already told the school who I like. It's not that she can't keep a secret, it's just that she always get's overexcited when one of us tells her we have a crush on someone. Another reason she hasn't told is because the guy I like happens to have a girlfriend who has hated me since the first grade. Also, he's three years older than me which isn't a big deal, but if my dad found out his head would probably explode. He's very overprotective when it comes to me and boys. He is also very much against me dating someone who doesn't plan on becoming a biological engineer.

I was ready to go by 6:00 and only had to wait a few minutes before my dad's car pulled up. I yelled a goodbye to my mom and hopped in the front seat, greeting my dad with the usual smile. We've been going to hockey games together since I was eight. It's been our tradition for eight years, although my love for the game and excitement to go has changed. He just doesn't know that, and hopefully never will. I love spending time with him and all but, when it comes to boys girls tend to be a little unreasonable, and I am no exception. We made it to the arena within twenty minutes and quickly grabbed a drink and a snack. There were already hundreds of people in their seats, so it took us a few minutes to find ours.
