The Justified

Chapter Three

We start walking by the huge tree, which is a big part of Amity. I look up and I see the top of it, which is very high up.

When I look back down, Teddy motions me behind the big dome. I give her a questionable look, but I follow her anyways.

When I get to her, she puts her index finger to her mouth, telling me to be quiet. We both look around the corner, and we see Tris and Four. I don't want to eavesdrop, but I don't think I have a choice.

"What wrong?" Tris says behind Four, her arms around him.

"Everything Tris," he says back.

"Tobias, it's going to be okay."

I still find it strange his name is Tobias, I know I will get used to it, but I don't know if I will call him that very much.

"I'm not talking about the war," Four says.

"I know you aren't, I'm smarter than that."

"Tris, I'm turning like my father," he says, tears going down his face.

What did Marcus do to him?

"No you're not," Tris says, putting her head on his shoulder. Four turns around to face her.

"Cat is.........afraid of me, just like how I was afraid of my father. Did you see what I did to her? Her face is now bruised up, because of me. She is one of my best friends, and I probably ruined our friendship. I don't want too ruin our friendship."

"She isn't afraid of you, she is probably a little shaken up though. I'll talk to her about it. It wasn't your fault, Tobias. She said what she said, and you got angry."

"I started the conversation, I said something first Tris. It's my fault."

"Fine then, it is both of your faults, but everyone makes mistakes. Don't think that stuff, it's okay."

"I don't want her to be afraid."

"I already told you she isn't."

"Teddy tried to put her arm around her, and Cat flinched. You know what that means, correct?"

Tris gives him a questionable look.

"It means that she thought Teddy was going to punch her, just like I did, it's a reaction to fear."

"I would be afraid if someone was going to punch me too, and maybe it wasn't from you."

"Stop trying to make this turn tables, you know that's why she does that!" Four says in anger.

There is a silent, but then, Four speaks up again. He gives her a softer look in a apology and sighs. He interlocks hands with Tris.

"I just.........don't want her to end up......... like Al."

"Tobias. Stop thinking that. She isn't going to do that, she is smarter than Al, she was an Erudite for god sakes. Promise me, you will stop thinking of this, and trust her."

"Okay," he says, looking down.

"Now let's go look around a bit, get your mind off of things."

They start walking the other direction, and I am left confused.

"Who is Al?"

Teddy looks at me, and looks down.

"Al joined Dauntless from the beginning, but he didn't start off well. He was bottom rank, or at least close to it, and he was jealous of Tris, since she was passing as a Dauntless initiate, number one spot. He decide to try and kill her, which failed, because he was not strong enough to push her into the Chasm. He then......." Teddy pauses.
