LUC'S POV

Holy shit, was she ever hot.

Her hair looked so soft, I just wanted to touch it. The way she was acting would make me, or anyone, assume that she was one of those cute little shy girls. You know the type. Unlike most shy girls, though, she had no problem looking into my eyes.

At a loss of what to say to her, a very odd pheonomenon for me, I tried to make her feel suspenceful about where we were going. My original plan was to take her to a movie, in case I didn't like her, I could just ignore her for an hour and a half, but then I came up with the brilliant idea of an out-of-town movie theatre. Long drive, more time to figure out exactly what was enchanting me so much.

"So, you're really not going to tell me where we're going?" she asked, with the cutest look on her face.

I smirked at her. "Nope!"

She giggled, only faintly. "Fine then," she said, as she mocked hurt, "I guess I'll just sit here and look out the window until we reach our destination." Esme looked at me once, then melodramatically swept her head to the other side, looking out the window.

"Oh no you don't! I'm on a date with the hottest girl I've ever met, and if you think I am going to let her spend the whole car ride looking out the window, well then you would be very wrong." Worried I'd said too much, I looked at her face. She looked like she was trying not to laugh - a good sign, as long as she wasn't laughing in my face - and she was blushing again. It was a good look for her. I should embarrass her more often.

She burst out laughing. "Fine then. If we're going to talk, then I want to know more about you."

"Ask away."

"What's your favorite color?" she asked innocently.

My favorite color... my favorite color... blue. "Blue. What's your's?

"Pink. What do you do besides going on blind dates?"

This time, the words came out of my mouth without even thinking about it. "I play soccer, hockey, track, and I... da-yeah."

"What else do you do?" She said. I had obviously piqued her interests... or maybe she just wanted to see if I would lie. I decided against lying.

"I'm a dancer too," I said, silently praying that she wouldn't laugh at me.

"Cool. That will come in handy, because I can't dance."

At that, I pulled over at the side of the road, where I saw an empty park.

"What are we doing?" she asked suspiciously.

"Dancing!" I exclaimed, getting out of the car and opening the door for her. Hesitantly, she stepped out of the car, and I closed the door behind me. I took her hand and we walked towards the concrete.

I spun her and took her other hand, and we began to dance. Then she began to sing with the most angelic voice. I picked up with her faster rhythm of song, and spun her around again.

"La la la whoo!" she shrieked as she almost fell. I scooped her up, and we began to dance again.

The time had gone by so quickly. I thought it had only been ten minutes, when it had been two hours. Any movie I had planned on seeing was long over. "I'm so sorry if I wasted your evening," I apologized.

"Why on earth would you be sorry? I haven't had so much fun since ever! Thank you so much!" she beamed.

I took her hand again and we walked back to my car together. I'd enjoyed our evening together so much that I asked her to go with me again the next day.

She said yes.

On the car ride back to her home, she told me all about singing, and I told her about dancing. We agreed that together we'd be the best singing and dancing couple there was.

As she left the car, she pecked my lips, and waved as she walked away, back into her own home. She was so beautiful.

I then drove another 30 minutes to the cemetary, parked my car, got out, and walked to my mother's tombstone. Rose Lescartes 1975-2013

She'd only been gone for six months. She died in a car accident. It was times when I was happy that I missed her the most. I wanted to share those happy times with her, it was the thing that I wanted the very most. Alas, that's what I tried to do.

"Mom, I miss you. You're so amazing, and I was so lucky to have you as a mother. I still am. I don't know how things work up where you are, but you may or may not know that Darla set me up with a girl."

I felt my eyes brimming with tears, as I thought of Esme, and how like my mother she was. They had the same meekness, yet the same boldness. The kind that could accidentally introduce herself twice, but put you in your place, and make you forget everything else.

I wished that they could meet. My mother would have so much fun with the name Esmeralda. I would have poked fun at her too, but I didn't want to be too annoying on the first date. I'd save that part of my charm for later.

"The girl, her name is Esmeralda, but she goes by Esme. I've only met her once, but, she reminds me so much of you. She has a beautiful voice, and she has such an enchanting personality. We're going out again tomorrow."

I thought back to when my mother was alive. She always cared about my grades, but not to the point where she cared more than I did.

"I have mostly B's and a few A's. It's pretty good. And I'll be ready next year - senior year - when it's time to deal with college and stuff. I think I'll go to the local one, the one we used to talk about me going to all the time. Auntie Scarlett's barely home, and I think I'll keep staying with her for college."

My poor Aunt Scarlett. She'd taken my mother's death really hard, and now spent almost all of her time at work, which took her all around the globe. I only saw her about once a month, if I was lucky.

"I wish that you were still here, mom. I wish that we could still be a family, just the two of us." I felt my eyes fill up with tears, and this time, I didn't stop them. "I wish that you were here to see the beautiful things in my life. I miss you." I felt a single salty tear running down my face. The last time that I'd cried was when I came here after Aunt Scarlett left for the first time.

I stood up, brushed off my knees, and let the tears fall from my eyes. I had every right to feel sad, I reminded myself. As I walked away, I murmured, "I love you mom."
