Chapter 7
"How can you guys walk in those?" Harry questioned, amazed at how Chris and I aren't dying in our 5-inch heels as we all walk to Starbucks for breakfast.
We arrive at Starbucks after a short 10 minute walk, and all sit together in a booth at the back of the shop. Other than us, there is only one other elderly couple in the shop, probably due to the fact that it is only 7am on a Friday morning. A young girl with a notepad in her hand walks up to us, looking extremely tired. "Hi, what can I get for you guys?" Her bright, high-pitched voice completely contradicts her tired appearance, and her braces reflect the lights that are still shining outside the windows.
Christina orders for us, and I am pleased when she orders me a Vanilla-Bean Frappuccino and an omelette. The food doesn't take long to cook, so we aren't left waiting for very long.
"So," Harry starts the conversation, blowing on his tea, trying to cool it down. "When do you officially take over Chris' job?" I look at Christina for the answer, as I have no idea when I take over.
"Well, I have a lot to teach her, so I will be mentoring her for about 2 months and she will be staying with us while I mentor her." I almost spit my drink out. 2 months?!? "Oh, are you sure? I don't want to overstay my welcome."
"Darling, you are welcome to stay with us as long as you like, although you probably just want your privacy, but it would be convenient if you were staying with us while I mentor you." I nod, cutting into my omelette.
"Okay, that sounds perfect. When do we start work?"
"Uh, as far as I know, we are attending a board meeting almost as soon as we get back from California, so probably around Monday or Tuesday next week." I nod along, daydreaming about our weekend trip to California. I'll have to call Mum to let her know my plans. She will be so excited for me. I love California.
"So, I have booked out 3 rooms, you 2 get one each, and Jack and I will share one, obviously. Oh, and Jack and I are going on a surprise trip on Saturday, so you two will be left to entertain yourselves till Sunday morning when we get back. I suggest shopping, Anna. They have the best shops." Harry snickered, but I thought she had done a lovely job planning the weekend.
"3 rooms, huh? Why don't we just get one big room?" He had a devilish smirk on his face, making Chris look really uncomfortable. Oh God. Christina opened her mouth a few times, but no words came out. She obviously wasn't expecting her Nephew to be so intrusive about the room arrangements. "We are sharing a room because we're married, Haz. Married people share hotel rooms. It's how the world works" she finally responds, thinking that is the end of Harry's embarrassing chastising.
"Oh, it's okay, we get it Chris. Birthday sex..." I sat there giggling quietly, and Christina put her head in her hands. "Yeah, it's how the world works," I add, making Harry release a loud, throaty laugh. "Oh, quiet you." Her face was bright red, and it only made me laugh harder.
