We stood in a circle and watched the man that laid in the middle. We didn't know how much power this would take from us, but we needed to try.
I lowered my head, taking Grandma's hand in my right, another coven member named Belle's hand in my left. My body jerked slightly as the power of our coven began to move between us between our linked hands. The pendant at my throat began to glow purple, which shocked me a bit. It always glowed blue for my grandmother.
I felt Belle tighten her hand on mine, focusing her energy on healing the man on the table. Mine tightened on my Grandma's, my eyes landing on the young man. The energy of my magic surged through my body and I focused it on him.
I couldn't tell how long we were there, focusing everything on this man. It could be minutes to hours, I'll never know. What I did know was my body was exhausted. I also knew I couldn't push this much power out for much longer.
A small grunt came from the man, his wounds beginning to heal. His burned, black flesh turned to smooth, pale skin. Dark hair grew back quickly, naturally styled in an upward fashion. He had sharp facial features and a jawline that could shred cheese.
The energy stopped flowing as the man opened his eyes. He sat up quickly, looking directly at me. I felt my heartrate speed up. It felt like I was going to have a heart attack just by looking at him. Grandmother squeezed my hand one time before letting go, Belle doing the same.
I felt my hands shaking. I didn't know if it was from the amount of energy drained from me or because of the very attractive man laying on the table. I paused for a moment, trying to calm my nerves. If I spoke right now, I know my voice would crack and I'd seem weak as a leader.
My hands slowly stopped shaking and that's when I knew my nerves were from my depleted energy. "Who are you? And why have I been seeing you in my dreams?" I said, keeping my tone strong.
"My... My name is Chase Collins. How did I get here?" He asked. His voice gave away his age. He was a teenager, 18 at least. I didn't know what to do anymore. Maybe I shouldn't have followed my dream.
"My name is Lily. Last names have power in my coven, so we don't use ours freely. I advise you don't either. You didn't answer the question of why I keep seeing you." I said, taking a step towards him.
A small smirk tugged at his lips and he stared me down. I felt like his eyes were reading my entire soul like a map or a picture book. Like every secret I ever kept was being put on display for him to read whenever he wished.
"You've been seeing me in your dreams because I knew you'd save me if my plan went wrong."
