Chapter 15

Caleb's smile quickly faded. We just heard a scream, and I'm sure that it was Annie.
Now, let me tell you something about Caleb.
He is WAY too overprotective with his sisters. He loves them too much to let anything happen to them. And I could tell that he was very, VERY worried right now.

We both got up and quickly ran back to the fire that we used to roast marshmallows.

No one was there.

We looked around, trying to find someone. Our eyes, desperately searching for a sign of someone.

That's when I heard distant crying. And the worse? It sounded like Hayley.

Caleb and I followed the crying to find Hayley crying nonstop, and all of our parents around someone who was laying on the ground, Annie.

Around her was a puddle of blood and she was unconscious.

Caleb quickly ran to shake her awake. I could see tears running down his cheeks. He was shaking her nonstop, yelling her name to see if she would wake up.

With struggle, I pulled him aside and hugged him. Tears also fell down my cheeks. Since I came back, I got much closer to Annie and Hayley. Annie was like my best friend.

I pulled away from the hug.

Was she dead?

I hated that thought.

I quickly took her wrist, and checked her pulse.

She was alive.

A wave of relief ran through my body.

"She's alive" I said. Caleb's face turned into a relief expression, but he was still crying. Hayley has the exact same expression on her face.

Miss Katie had already called an ambulance and we were waiting for it to arrive.

When the ambulance arrived, Caleb carried Annie in his arms all the way to the driveway.

The paramedics took her inside the ambulance.

They asked who was coming with them.

Mrs.Katie, Mr.Billy, Caleb and Hayley went with them.

I really wanted to go, but I feel like it's a family thing, so my mom drove me, Mia and her parents to the hospital where we would meet Caleb's family.

My heart was pounding so hard, and I hated every thought of what could happen to Annie.

But the only question in my mind was:

Who could've done that?

Of course my first suspect was Sydney. But I don't think she would do that. Sydney is Annie's friend, I know Sydney and even though she's a snake, she wouldn't do that.

Katie? Nah. Katie is way too sweet and she is one of Annie's best friends. They're best friend goals and I know Katie would never hurt Annie or her family.

There was only one person who could have done such a thing.
