Chapter 7

Today I saw an angel. She had auburn hair in pigtails and talked too much about something call anime. "Hey, it's violet, right?" she asked, her auburn hair moving with her lips. Brown freckles danced across her nose like stars in the midnight sky. "Yeah I am" I replied. She gave me a shy smile and grabbed my forearm pulling me next to her gently. "Hi, I'm Jane" she smiled. I smile back her way, she looked me up and down. "How come I've never seen you here before?" she asked holding her chin. I bit my lip and forced a reply, "I'm new". She nodded politely and gave me a hand shake. "Listen, this school is rough. I barely made it, but I wanna help you. We can survive together" she said sheepishly. I nodded and gave her a genuine smile, this was the first real smile I've given in a while.

...

Beams of the later summer sun bled soft trickles of sweat across my forehead. The old danky school lacked good air circulation, the bruise on my head throbbing. Our math teacher, a beautiful blonde female with a love for yoga. She had wondrous hazel eyes that you knew seen the best and worst parts of the world. I liked her, she reminded me of mother nature; so open and loving. Running her bony hands through my gold locks of hair. She walked in the front with a certain stride of peace and wellbeing. I walked towards the back, like a ghost that people sometimes noticed. I was the freshmen of the group, all the rest were seniors and sophomores along with juniors. They opened their lips and strange things came out as Homecoming and daily life. It made me cringe inside a little, never again would I understand what it felt like to have boys and dresses only on my mind. My mind was filled with shattered glass and broken machines, not even machines more like broken victorian organs, ones that cried in the night under the moon. They played melancholy tunes in my ears at all times, as if waiting for a lost lover. Maybe the lost lover was my happiness...

A voice brought me out of my thoughts, it sounded like honeysuckle smoke and phantom mirrors. Stryker. His chapped lips seemed to release vows I couldn't understand. The organ played a crescendo in my head as his lips continued to push out nothing and everything. Before I knew it I was lifted off my feet, into big husky arms. The area was covered in dirt and shaded by trees...Suddenly I was part of the dirt. Stryker threw me into a patch of dirt that seemed thirsty for a rainy day. I cower into in,wishing to grow roots and sink into the dirt. Thick red crimson dripped from my elbow from the fall. I looked into his electric eyes, shock still biting at me. He spat something at me and stalked off to laugh with the others. Hot tears threatened to spill over, and I let them. Blood continued to drip from the gash in my elbow. Everything hurt, inside and out. Stryker looked back occasionally, showing very little remorse. Until he heard my choked sob, he turned back and saw my elbow and puffy eyes. His teeth gritted together and he continued to walk, the rest of the walk had no effect on me.

...

The chrome tub seemed to cleanse the sins of the day, not mine but others wrath that latched on to be like leeches. I slid down in the musky water and held my breath. Vows of malice clouded my thoughts, they were holding me under the water. Invisible hands of darkness held me down peacefully, tearing off my flesh. They were trying to help, they wanted to kill me...And they knew I wanted them to.

My body smashed through the surface, breaking the translucent glass, smacking the hands away. Someone...something was pulling me out. The old woman, her elegant boney finger caressed my face. "My dear child, life is but a gift; a gift you only get once" she said as sorrow filled her voice. She kissed my forehead gently, whilst holding me close to her chest. That's when the tears began to fall, ones I couldn't hold back. My entire frame shook with sorrow filled tears. The avalanche of emotions came down like asteroids in the solar system. The woman held me tighter and caressed my sopping hair.
